View Full Version : Silkscreeny style
This is just a conglomeration of modeling and painting techniques that I've been playing with.

Love It! The interaction between the shiny figure and the painterly bg is poetry. :tu: :tu:
I love how they blend. Great effect
Nice image Zoid, reminds me of "I Robot"
good job :tu:
I'm interested in the black outline you did on the head - is it painted or maybe a material/lighting effect ?
Thanks for the nice comments. I've seen people use this style in photoshop and I think it works well in ZBrush also.
Digits, your comment made me laugh a little. I don't know if you meant Asimov or Parsons, but these two were big with me back in high school and made a big impression on me.

Nemo, I made the black outline with the object itself. First I fill the canvas with a light color and the FlatColor material. Then with the Flatcolor material still selected load a tool and draw it on the canvas with a darker color. Even though it looks like a flat silhouette it can be moved, rotated and sized in edit mode. When you're done positioning the flat shape, snapshot the object (shift + s) and pick a new material. Then scale down the object so that the FlatColor outline shows around the outside.

Great imagery Josh!!!
Really cool work, I too am inspired by Asimov and Parsons... Great techniques!
That flat color silhouette would be great for cutout effects! Keep up the good work bro!
Zoid, how did you make those twirly-circle things so perfectly round with a brush?

Beautiful work. :tu: :tu: :tu:
Rage, that's the spiral tool, it's in the tool pallette.
A very unique image Josh(#1)I like the roughness and the chrome smooth metal look
combined.
Thanks for the info Zoid :)
god i need to start thinking more simple - of course just dupe the object in black flat-color....
