Here are my questions:

I have made a basic hand. It looks like other hands I have seen at the point where the fingers join the palm. When I put a mesh on it, there is a lot of interpenetraion going on between the fingers at the points where they connect to the palm. When I export this as an obj to Maya, it makes a very ugly object. I have seen on other peoples hands that they have eliminated this problem. How do you do this? If you look at the mesh generated by my zsphere hand, you can see the interpentration happening there. I have been trying for a week to fix this. Please, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You are getting intersecting polys because the 3 zspheres that connect to the "palm" zsphere have the same resolution as the "palm". You need to increase the resolution of your palm zsphere. Higher resolution = more polygons.

The quickest way to increase a zspheres resolution is to let zbrush take care of it. By setting the Ires value (Tool ::Adaptive Skin ::Ires) to 2 tells zbrush to increase the resolution of any zsphere that has 3 or more zspheres attached.

Another way is to set the X, Y and Z resolution of each zsphere at draw time, using the Xres,Yres and Zres sliders in the transform palette.

Or you can use a script to edit each zsphere after drawing them. Zif Edit rev b (http://www.pixolator.com/zbc-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=013294) and Digits Zif Slick (http://www.pixolator.com/zbc-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=013407) both allow you to change the XYZres of a zsphere post creation. The are some issues with Zif Edit under Zbrush 2 which I will iron out soon.

There are a couple threads around that discuss the XYZ resolution.

ps. also try enabling Tool ::Adaptive Skin ::MC (Minimal skin to Child), might help get the shape you want earlier.

Here's a small tutorial (http://www.pixolator.com/zbc-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=012048) on X,Y,Z res and its application to a hand.

(Please note that the values shown for the hand on the image are wrong.)

BTW, may i ask another related question in this thread? :)
- Is the Digits Zif Slick older script than his Zif Click? - i first tested Zif Slick, then found Zif Click :) - at least Click looks more streamlined - maybe less features?

TVeyes: cool script that Zif Edit! - Seems to be working quite well under Z2 :)
