edit - LOOK BELOW FOR UPDATES

well, my attempts at creating a knight failed miserably, so i decided to give zsphere modeling another shot. and this is what i came up with.

http://img429.imageshack.us/img429/3064/wateralien3th.png

its stil a WIP because i have the entire body modeled but im focusing on detaialing the head right now, and obviously it still needs to be textured.

so what do you guys think? :tu: or :td:

well so far it doesnt look that bad....it is a spectre/ghost like creature ? At first I thought you had modeled a head and the arm slots were eye sockets...but then I saw the face in there....work on it some more, repost and then there will be more to comments about...so far so good...:tu:

o yea sry about that. i think that because i have to add the eyes to it, also when you see it on the body you can obviously tell that its a head.

considering im a real noob, can anyone point me to a thread that explains how to merge a 3d object into the skin, like if i wanted to add eyeballs into the polymesh and not just when i draw it on the canvas.

and thxfor the positive feedback

hi knightmare......one of the best advices I can give you is to stick to as low a poly as you can to block out the forms....and that would be for all the pieces for your final comp ......as much as possible.....work it to death on level 1 before moving to level 2 etc. don't worry about wrinkles or fine or even mid level details til you have the basic form you see in your head down.....the rest will come to you quite naturally after that.....the hard part is getting it there first!

remember to save various versions often so if you go off in a direction that doesn't work for ya, you can go back to where it still was.

Patience is your friend in this field, know him and yourself well and you will excel and suprise yourself!!

Hey Dark,

I'm new to Z-brush so take what i say as a grain of salt.

your going off into a cool design and haveing fun with it which is great, but its going way off of reality. your thinking Alien, it should be righ? well in my opinion No. If you want something to be belivable it should be pretty closely based in reality, anatomy wise. your body is pretty human for the most part, 2 arms 2 legs....so you may want to give it more human anatomy. I mean, not to a T, but somehwat to give it a more belivable feel. I like what you have going on with the ribcage, but past that you atart to loose the "real" factor to me.

basically the arms and the legs are what strike me the most as not belivable.
I know you probably think its an alien and what the hell would I know on what it looks like, which is true. we don't, but as humans we recognize reality. so incorpirating things that look real from sea life, animals, people etc... it makes people recognize familure things and thus becoming a belivable character.

just my opinion on it.

I like what you haveing going on with the mouth, keep us upated!

i see what you mean, but as you may have noticed its a wip, and ihavent even gotten to the arms and legs yet :) also if you could tell me how the arms could look real then please post that, im also debating as to where i should add the gills:confused:

I think he's taken WeightWatchers too far! hahahah

oh.

Um, it's cool. Just keep working on details and maybe think about the leg/arm thickness. Does he walk more? or swim more? Make his ribs the gills! hehe all the rib section is one big gill system.
