OK, I have been looking at ZBrush what exactly is Z-brush...
3D animation? 3D Paint, or just 2D to mimic 3D imagry...
I am lost here, I see such amazing artwork on this site, yet I know of no applications that can do this, except Bryce, Poser...and they are limited...
The only ones that could mimic this work, is Lightwave/Maya...so can comeone please tell me what this program trully is for... I'd love to buy it, but without knowing it's true function, I am hesatant to.. I downloaded the demo, and it really is quite confusing... (the 200+ page PDF isn't a walk in the park either to read)
 a very confused Cyberpawz

I'd say primarily it's a 2.5d paint program used for generating stills. It can also be used for texturing and making models for exporting to other programs such as other 3d renderers/animation programs or game programs.
Some 3d animation can be done using some of Digits scripts, but the animation capabilities are fairly limited right now.
ZBrush utilizes a rendering technique called "pixols". A pixol is like a pixel in a 2d paint program except the pixol contains extended information such as depth, orientation (surface normal) and material which allows for the additional 3d effects you see in the images posted here. One of the big advantages of pixol technology is the amount of detail you could put in an image while having little effect on rendering time, since the renderer is "pixol" based rather than polygon or primitive-based.
You might want to check the "QuickLinks" section posted on top of the page to get you started especially the "New Users" section.

Zbrush can be used for creating 3d figures too, which you can texture too and import into progs like Poser/Bryce. You can also create morph targets for Poser figures with Zbrush. Personally I use Zbrush (of course), Poser/Pro Pack and Vue d`Esprit. They make a powerful combination. Message me for more info on using all 3.
My advice...Get Zbrush v1.51 NOW!!!!
You won`t regret it

is there an export for 3ds max 4 that i could download somewhere....or anyother programs such as poser, and other 3d programs?
ZBrush imports and exports 3D models as OBJ and DXF. These are recognized by most major programs (including Bryce, Poser, Cinema 4D, and LightWave). Max, however, requires a conversion program and Maya requires a plugin.

You would export to an .obj or .dxf file from the tool pallette for whatever tool you have modelled.
*oops, got confused*
I was assuming you have the demo Bubman, which won't let you export objects.

You can get a free plug-in for 3ds max that allows you to import OBJ files. Message me for info :D
