View Full Version : Exporting figures from Poser to zbrush?
Can anyone mention a good thread, where it is explained how one exports a posed and morphed figure from Poser 4 to zbrush 1.55?
Couldn't find anything. Thanks for your help (once again)

check the quicklinks there is a whole section of poser links.
All you need to do is to export your Poser model in .obj format, go to tools in ZBrush, select the polymesh tool (the one that seems like a star) and import your model there with the import button. That done, you have your model in the Z world. ;)
To take this a step further, now that you have it in Z and have textured it how do you get it back out to Poser. (I'm trying to do this under version 2.0. I realize that there are threads for doing it under 1.55 but they either don't apply to 2.0 or, more likely, I'm just dense today. I've tried to keep it real simple, but the colors I add don't show up in the correct places. BTW, I have tried the import, export, then import again trick)
Could someone who has 2.0 please go through the steps.
Thanks from a brand, spankin new newbie.
Don
Thanks for all the helpful hints!
As one can see, i'm already experimenting round with it in zbrush (my favorite Program still).
Hope you like the picture. Sorry, it isn't done very clean, was just a practice.
Ups! Forgot the picture.
Here it is:

About the colors not showing in the right place, I read somewhere here today that the textures get somewhat flipped in the export proccess, and that flipping them back should take care of this issue, but I am not anywhere near my Z-toys to test it...
Hope it helps.
PS.: Is this the P4 guy in the picture? :D
It is awesome! Good job! He is unrecognizable! The only hint is the fact that this is was a poser thread!
when you reimport the texturized model back into poser, in the checkboxes at the bottom, try checking "flip v texture coordinates".
Worked for me this am.
Just starting to work with both also.
Best of luck
Thanks very much-
Flip V did the trick

The Body is a P4 Business guy, the Head a Victoria 2. I read an interesting thread from Aurick about getting rid of the eyelashes geometry (mask them and then hide points), but for this quick try i just used the eraser...

the beauty of Z2 is you can import a poser head......edit tool: tool:autogroups
which seperates the eyelash thing bycolors if you have quick...frames on in edit mode.....and then it's a piece of cake to isolate an eliminate them or any other unwanted part.
i tried masking poser models to eliminate unwanted parts an was never even 90 percent effective.....with z2....haven't missed yet.
