I have tried and tried to get a model I make to break apart in ZBrush so that I can texture only certain parts, i.e. how the rhino breaks apart so you can texture individual pieces. Does anyone have a script that shows step by step how to get the model to break apart and have the individual pieces show on the screen. I need a simple step by step, new at trying to do this so can't assume I would know the preceeding steps. Any and all help appreciated, thanking you in advance. :( :(

there are a few ways to control textureing.
Masking is 1, Stencils is another. The 1 u probably want is polygroups. You can define these in ZB or in another app. (by assigning material)

Hi SpriteD,
When in edit mode you can click on frames and you will see different colored parts of mesh if it has multiple pieces (like zspheres) you can ctrl-shift click on one to select just that one group.
If it is all one color...ie one group...then you can ctrl-shift drag so that a green square highlights the area you wish to texture and then let go the mouse key and only the part you chose will be visible......
make sure when you do that tho to rotate the object...you might have to click local so it rotates in its own space instead of world space......and if there are parts there you don't want then ctrl-shift drag and let go of the ctrl-shift keys first so you see a red triangle instead of green to remove the parts you don't want to texture at the moment.
I will try to get a script up to show you. But hopefully I explained well enuf to get ya going.
ps...oh yeah there are built in zscripts that show this too....under the help menu i believe.

I don't think the mapping on the Rhino example originated in ZBrush. Likely it was done with UVMapper or some similar map-tool.
