I'm new into modeling with ZSpheres...

I've seen several good models made with adaptive skinning, but I can't get the result I want :(

For example, I've tried to model a hand like this:

but this is the strange result I obtain with adaptive skinning (cskin on, density=3, mbr=30):

Why I can't get something like this?

Is there someone very kind to explain me?

(this is the ztool:hand.zip (http://www2.zbrushcentral.com/zbc_uploads/user_file-1037908424wxs.zip))

Thanks

I'm afraid I don't know why , I've been trying it myself and got the same results , so i'm still stuck making hands with unified skinning.

Awaiting respons too ...

Hi buddy, the trick is the proportions of the fingers and the hand, if your fingers are too small and not placed correctly, you'll have that problem, try playing around a bit and repositioning them, dont forget to make the fingertips a little larger than the actual fingers too, a little practice is all it takes, oh and dont forget to press A to preview while you position the zspheres.

Hope this helps ;)

Try turning mesh density down to 2-3 while previewing and turn on polyedges to see the models polygons. When viewing in preview mode you can still draw a new zsphere ,although it will jump back to normal zsphere mode when you start drawing a zsphere.

So... with polyedges enabled, and in preview mode, aim for the cross section of the polygons and add a Zsphere. It should be bang on and cause no distortion. From that Zsphere you can add more without wrecking the model

The above was for a single finger, so for a five fingered hand I would add three Zspheres to one side of a Zsphere (lets call it the palm) and while adding each Zsphere make sure to aim for the cross section. The two remaining fingers should be added on opposite sides of the palm ( thumb and little finger, not on same side as the other fingers), again aim for the cross sections.

After converting to an adaptive mesh at your chosen density you should of course modify the palm to your liking.

A five fingered hand should use an Ires of 4 or 5 all depending on how many Zspheres are attached to the palm.(5 fingers = Ires of 4, 5 fingers and a wrist = Ires of 5)

Hope that helps, I really do, because I've never Zsphered a hand before, only thingamajigs. :D
