View Full Version : "Last Stand"
Here's a new character from me. This image shows one of his last moments alive. Don't ask me whats gonna happen, but its not something good. Had the movie "Stalingrad" in the back of my mind when creating this.
Modelled, textured and rendered i ZB. Composite in Photoshop and Fusion.
I will write some more on my texuring techniques as soon as I have a spare moment.

Wow great facial expression for his last moments, looks like he is really at peace with the final act of his life:D . Also really nice texturing and model. I too would enjoy to learn more about your texturing technique. I really like the coat as well. I always have problems with material like that how did you create the coat?

Wooow Breuer! That's (again!) an awesome image! :tu: The color and mood of the image is just amazing!
Really cool to see a modeling-progress sheet of it! That's really insightfull to that part of the project! I'm of course also very interested in your texturing/rendering tut! Specificly in the 'Fusion'-part, as I myself also like to have an effective workflow (not keeping to tweak all while rendering, but doing it realtime in post).
Also I have to say your website is amazing! Really inspiring art on it! :)
I can't wait for more! :)

Hi guys. Thanks alot for the replies.
Ill write a few words on how I work. Itīs difficult though, cause I now everone develops their own technique and way of doing things and mine is just one of those. Just trial and error in Photoshop.
Well... first of all I put alot of work into the modelling and shading and then textures. This is either done in Zb or paintet on an unwrapped mesh in PS.(more and more ZB though)
When I am pleased with the modelling, shading and texuring I do a final Hi-res render, either in ZB or LW(always think about lighting, it has to match the 2d/photo elements in your composite later). Then open it in Photoshop.
The eyes are, as you can see from the progress-thing earlier in this post 2d/photo. I have taken alot of reference photos of faces and eyes. I find the eyes that I want to use for my character and mark one of them, including the area around and paste it into my render. I rescale it and place it where it looks best. Now... There are several ways of intergrating this eye-photo with your rendering. Either by painting/erasing the areas around the edges of the photo so that the transition is smooth, or by using the blending modes, multiply, hard light, overlay or soft light. Different modes work for different images. Hard to predict. Erase the edges so it blends in. Then colour correct and contrast adjust. Thats it basically. Its not the easiest technique to desccibe I find, but if you try and fail a few times you should nail it pretty easily.
Hope this helps and feel free to ask if something is unclear.

I am just learning how to create a realistic skin in Photoshop, so I expect your tut too. ;) On my feeling I don't like the final effect, it's too dark and hide a lot of detail..I think, it's just my feelling:lol: , the last two images are better for me.

The second image is nicer, any way the final effect is too blur..because of the blizzard? emm...

Breueroh well, breuer, thx 4 your describing of your worklflow... As I see, your technique is practical nearly the same, I inbetween tried to use myself, I am glad about... One of the fantastic things: we don't need use PS, 'coz everything you described here, is possible to make inside of zBrush (I meant, I do it so...). The positioning and scalling of texturing/bumping objects in zBrush is in my humble opinion better and more efficient than in PS, what do you think?
At last, dear breuer, look on my last two try of "your" techniques, they inspired me, in my threads and say, what do you think about. Thank you one more time for inspiring me, my young teacher:D :tu:
(I hope, you did understand me, my english is not exactly the best...)
