Your tinkering at the edges of one of ZBrush's rendering/material limitations. This can only lead to inevitable premature ageing.
Pull back,
I say... fake it and bake it!
Otherwise the expression "beating a rice pudding up a hill with a stick" springs to mind.

I also think you did well.
Boozy Floozy is merely saying you are pushing against the boundaries here ;)
and probably warning against premature aging.
Sigh, if only I too, had listened
I think you've done extremely well! The mat looks just about there to me, there don't appear to be any reflections in the foreground. Have you created a Fresnel effect? If so that may need some tweaking so that reflections only dissappear when looking nearly straight down on the surface. Other than that you just need a little fog to soften the distance and it'll be perfect! - Baz

Thanks for the kind comments! I did actually find a grey hair not long after posting my last comment...
Hey, the reflections in the water look nice, did you paint them or did you do a reflect texture thing...?
Anyway I made some clear water about a week ago, check out my material (http://www.pixolator.com/zbc-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=015583) test it a bit, compare a bit, o fellow water-creator :p .
Let me know what ya think, maybe send me your material for some more tests.
Now that we're trying to make some water, we might aswell join forces :p .
