Hi Fletcher.
Texturing a head model can be done in ZBrush. There are a couple methods to go about doing this.
:b1: One is TextureMaster, which is great if you have ZBrush 1.23B, demo, or full version (as far as I know.)
:b2: An older method is the use of 3D Copy. I've not used TextureMaster at all - so I do rely on 3D Copy as my texturing tool. And it works quite well. Information can be found here (http://www.pixolator.com/zbc-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=000124), and here (http://www.pixolator.com/zbc-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=000050) (scroll down the page,) with a little more info located here (http://www.pixolator.com/zbc-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=002930).
I'm sure others will drop by with more answers for you. Hopefully, the links provided will get you started.
I don't believe that there IS a program specifically for head texturing. There are just too many variations in the formats that various programs use, and then it would also leave the rest of the body high and dry.
As far as I know, the best options currently available are:
ZBrush using the TextureMaster -- $292.50
BodyPaint 3D -- $595
Deep Paint 3D with Texture Weapons -- $1290
Besides the price difference, the last two are both incapable of modeling. And Body Paint is also not a stand alone paint program. So for my two cents, ZBrush has the competition beat.
