After playing with the Spraybrushes for awhile I decided to try another reef image. This has a lot more to be added so please be patient.

Cool DeeVee, good start. I like how you have the lighting. It makes the deep look very dark & mysterious with the fish kind of emerging from it and the light on the reef to show off the colours. Well done so far!

Gorgeous Image DeeVee! Like deep in the ocean at night or something. Or maybe an underwater cave...dark and mysterious! The splash of red in the forground really balances the darker tones. Bravo :tu: :tu:
Update # 2. Almost finished ! http://www2.zbrushcentral.com/zbc_uploads/user_image-1032828291gmx.jpg

You really hit it on the lighting and perspective. Somehow the red plant seems a little off, color/material wise. VNice.

Thanks for your comments, the red thing is Red Coral which is brilliantly red. Maybe I can tone it down in the next upgrade, but that is the color that Red Coral is.

The update is great DeeVee! Looks like it's coming along nicely. :D

Very nice, Joe - the underwater flora is very realistic and I can vouch for the colour of the red coral (from aquaria, not diving experience). I can watch tanks of reef fish for hours. :tu: :tu: :tu:
The only thing that bothered me a bit is the larger shark - he seems much too small and out of proportion with the other fish. I guess it's a problem though, in reality at this disance he'd more than fill the canvas. So I'll put him down to artistic license... or maybe it's just a baby? :D

This is great Joe! :tu:
I like everything about it, especially the dark night kind of feel with the lighting...
It gave me the feeling I was there at night, and though I was underwater, I could breathe, was in no danger, and was watching a silent, and dramatic dance...Beautiful!

Regarding the coral. I was thinking that it isn't so much the colour that is a problem, as I know it actually is that colour, but it has no texture, which leaves it looking flat alongside the other vegitation etc.
I just did this up quick to give you some ideas.
But I am sure if you play around with your materials you can find one that works better than this. (this is the Teddybear material)

Thanks for your help NS, but the texture of the coral is so fine it would not be noticable form this distance. You see I happen to have a 12 inch by 1.5 inches bit of coral and you just would not see the texture. Thanks for your help, I did tone it down a bit in the final update.

Well, I think the final version came out just lovely! I still really like the lighting from the deep depths to the lighted reef area. Very nice effect..
