Hello! We have created two new QuickStart: Production Series guides: Texturing Basics and Material Basics. You can access them in this thread (http://www.zbrushcentral.com/zbc/showthread.php?t=28114) or below:
ZBrush Texturing Basics, introduces artists to the process of texturing in ZBrush. Also check out Caroline Delen's Artist in Action post here. (http://www.zbrushcentral.com/zbc/showthread.php?t=28111)
ZBrush Material Basics, walks artists through a basic understanding of ZBrush materials.
Click here (http://www.zbrushcentral.com/zbc/showthread.php?t=28114) to download them
Each guide is designed to take an artist through a specific area of ZBrush. Building upon each other, they form the foundation of learning ZBrush for production.

As with the previous guides these are excellent and very useful. It is great to see these quick but comprehensive guides. I am sure many users, new as old, will enjoy these guides. Great job :tu:
Indeed very clear and informative overveiws.
But I spotted a small mistake on the Materials Basics pdf :
Page 7/8 - > Under "Shader Channels" - > First Paragraph - : "Some attributes such as the cavity attribute can be used to create very complex [ effects?] using different shader channels."
When you say we, who exactly do you mean? - so I can shift the blame of this atrocious mistake to who rightly deserves it :D
Cheers,
Kircho

Kircho -
I will take myself out to the firing squad tomorrow morning. Please tell my children.
Thanks for the catch. :)
ryankingslien,WOW!, how did you do that? - if you can dodge 174+(views at time of posting) bullets comming straight at you, I would say that the firing squad you have planned for tomorrow will have scant further effect :D
So the rumours are true, you modelling guru's really do have special powers?!

Great work Ryan!
Typos have a curious habit of being completely invisible until they can cause maximum embarrassment. I once designed a greetings card with the word 'tolerant' on it, except that I spelled it 'tolerlant' (don't ask me how!). The card was printed and in the shops before anyone noticed. :)
That's some nice info!
Thanks :)

Thanks .. very useful concise guides.
Just spent the last 5 minutes trying to work out what sort of greeting card could have the word 'tolerant' in it. Nope .. it has defeated me. It doesn't even rhyme with anything. :D

Ryan,
Thanks so much! :) :) :)
the part of texturing guide regarding painting on texture maps would need some more explaination to be better undertsndable by users. a list can be good, but some more words explaining what exactly happens doing these passages would be required.
example : now hit crop and fill. Zb will filll the canvas with the texture so that u can start painting on it with blur tool, intensity ...

Great resources. This actually made me post for the first time .. dang. I was doing so well at being unknown.
But great job .. I printed them and put them right next to the Practical Guide in a folder ...
Hey I wanna know what is the difference between the comercial version and the student one, like in the comercial you can export your projects is unlimited and the student are, and so on, plz will be so helpfull the answer.

i believe the difference is you can't use the student version for commercial purposes....you can't make money using it...the FAQ section might be more detailed about it somewhere.

Hi guys, can someone tell me how and where to download the demo?
i looked all over this sight and i dont see the demo anywhere.
Thanks so much!
Ok! Not sure I'm asking this in the right thread...... I am a total newbee to ZBrush, only got it today. Had a quick look on youtube for some pointers, and managed to play around with the set render of the man's head (impressed myself actually lol). Though it may look very basic to yourselves!
Anyway.... I know photoshop very well, but there's still a few things I can not get my head round with ZBrush. :(
Like........... How do I add colour/shade/tone/texture and hair effects??
I see the alpha's and textures but nothing happens, when I click on them and then onto the image. I know that I'm most probably missing something really simple, but it's only easy once you know how lol.
Oh also..... can you download other 3D Renders like what came preset with the program?
Sorry again if I have posted in the wrong place...... but thanks for taking time to read my enquiry and hopefully someone can help me! :)
The best place to begin is the tutorial movies. See the link in my signature. Then move on to the online documentation.
Oh wow!!!!! Thanks aurick....... going to watch them now!!!! :D
