Hello everyone this is an ogre I made in xsi and zbrush, I've been reading alot and finally have somthing to show for it! It's taken two weeks so far on and off, the second week has been mostly trying to figure out the workflow from zbrush to xsi as far as normal mapping and such... still I have yet to figure it out. Anyway these are some pictures of it and hopfully I can have it textured and rigged by the end of next week! This was done with a character sketch first then xsi for the low poly then zbrush for the high poly There has been some distortions and some topology doesnt look quite right after messing with it in brush but I'll have that fixed. Please criticize I am looking for any flaws or suggestions I can get. I know about the position of the thumb being off im gonna fix that when I rig it. Also I am going to flatten the folds out a little in the loin cloth. Here it is and enjoy!

I think he looks great - I love the feet and hands especially. If I had a minor quibble, and it is very minor, I'd tighten up the detail on his face? Anyway, that aside, I think its brilliant.

Hey thanks for the input! Yea Ill mess around with the face the only problem is I cant get any more polygons because Im at around 800,000 and my computer cant handle 3,000,000 which is the next subdivision. But thanks again!

If could just get Ben to do the same... I mean his dad works at a brewery for God's sake!

I think "back fat" evolved so we could BE fat and not LOOK fat... You know what I mean?
Plus it's kind of "out of the way." You know? If you're running from a lion, having your fat be
You've done a really good job of capturing the torso, in general.

Woah.
I accidentally submitted that last post before I was finished explaining about how your fat being behind you was probably a good thing.

Yea we should hang out some time. Do you have "aim" or any im devices? Yea he has so much muscle in the front the fat is kind of non existant but the mass is where ive tried to make up for it. Anyway he wouldnt run from a lion he would either tame it or rip its head off and drink the blood. oh yes....
I included some new face pics I'm done with the modeling, I'm rigging it now. woo hooo I had no idea....

I have a question regaurding static animation poses. I made one right before I envoloped and need to get it back to the original pose, I highlight the storedstaticpose in the explorer and click Create>Skeleton>ApplySkeletonPose and nothing happens.. Why is this? What am I doing wrong? Do I have to redo everything?
Please help me!
Also thanks for the comments! I will keep updating I figured out Normal Maps and I just need to texture and put this back into a static pose and I could be done! of course I will no doubt run into more problems with the exporting to halflife 2 but I shall keep optomistic! ha

I wish I could get help on this I think I should just re-envolope.
You guys have to remember IM NEW to this!
So this is what I think. To correctly impliment the UV's for any kind of texture or normal map done in zbrush I have to include a UV map that I should have done in XSI before I exported to zbrush. So I have a choice of making the normal map after I set up UV's in XSI, (which would mean making clusters and spreading everything out) and then exporting the uv map to photoshop and painting a texture maybe ghosting the normal map over as a reference to help visualize. OR I can set up uvs for the highpoly mesh and then export it back to zbrush so I could paint in 3d with the original highres mesh to paint on.
Am I wrong with anything here? Is there a better way to do this? I am really just swinging in the dark..
