Scorpion(s) WIP1

Zsphere scorpions. No modeling done yeah other than skinning the Zspheres...Just trying to get the right form....the top one was the firs tmodel before I pulled out some reference material. Ceneofostitos did a great scene years ago in Z with the use of a Zscorpion....and well thought I would once again try my own hand at making one.

You've definitely captured the scorpion Ron, its looking really well. I like this latest material too, just the right amount of hard shininess. Looking forward to seeing it evolve even more!

Artwooki...yeppers...scorpions are very kewl...I want to do several arachnids...centipedes, black widow and hopefully a couple of other little creepy crawlies...

KDI..thnx for the reference pic....was going to try a jade type material to emulate the type of skin you have in your ref pic....definitely a big help...thnx..

Phil...yeah I like that material and hopefully I will be able to remember how I achieved it again..LOL...I have a tendancy to forget to save lights and materials ...gotta break that bad habit...

Matt.....LOL if I can ever finish a WIP before my mind shifts gears and moves onto something else I will be one happy camper.

Logick....I work with zspheres alot on my head models, but I love to still sculpt with a regular ole sphere alot the times...but I am slowly coming to terms with the zspheres... :)

My other problem with scenes is that I tend to work with default canvas sizes also....computer limitations....that is another reason I don't get all too elaborate in my pics...

here is a final material and light test for the moment before I go ahead with actual modeling and texturing...

Modeled a bit more...put him in the woods in a pile of leaves....leaves from a photo texture from some leaves I scanned several years ago while zbrushingand applied to some 3d spheres and also 3d planes within z...3 different light settings and four layers...more to improve....the hairs on the scorpion, I must remember to complete the scene then bake then add the hairs...lol..I knew better but forgot at the moment....no biggy...thnx for looking, commenting and whatever else...

Suz..thnx for your comments....I try to be original as possible when possible...but after 1000's of z images over the past 5 years, it sometimes get hard.....but the forum is a great place for inspirations.

Moochie...the hairs on bugs are a pain to remember....but they add alot to the character and mood of the creepiness of alot of these critters...thank you, your comments on my works are always appreciated.


Matthhh....loving your face hugger and Giger posts....Giger is a crazy man..I have a full size print on my walls...very nightmarish and inspirational artist...and I wish I could do that style more than I can at the moment....bugs are about as close as I can get....the background on this piece now, was inspired by your latest Giger post on your thread. thnx
