Hi,
Started using zbrush a few months ago - this is my first post here. A couple of doodles in a series I'm doing to learn the program.

Thanks Frenchy! :D
Yes - I was looking at clasical sculpture when I was working on these.
These are a few other doodles - the evil guy is a work-in-progress.

New to ZB, but not to sculpting / modelling. These are really exquisite. Welcome! :tu:

Thanks moochie! :D
Yes - I've been studying/sculpting for about a year now - it seems to be helping my modeling a lot & works well with zbrush's workflow.

Those are some pretty good doodles. What did you do to get the wrinkles on the lips on your first picture?

Hi Ouchieman -
Thanks for the kind words.
I did the lips 50 % with projection master & the rest setting the inflate brush size really small with a low setting (using both Zadd & Zsub). I also turn the mouse average up to about 4 to get finer results (info from Zach Petrok DVD ).
I haven't gotten too deeply into using alphas & the projection master yet - I do have the Aaron Sims alpha dvd from Gnomon, so I'll be trying more of that on future studies. I also haven't really touched color/texture mapping yet, so I have a lot to explore.
I have a whole bunch of photos from a friend of clasical sculptures in Florence so my goal is to start trying to replicate some of them in zbrush (and clay).

This is great stuff Scott, I really love your approach to understanding form. I've been definately getting into sculpture as well, I'm glad to see someone who appreciates the old school stuff. When I get the chance I'll probably post some of my stuff on here as well.

Wow! I think those are outstanding. It's seeing pieces like these that send me running to ZBrush to learn more.

Wow - thanks LeeJay!
This is my new effort in the series: To recreate Bernini's bust of Pope Gregory XV:

It's a bit ambitious - but what the heck! I've only spent a few hours building the base mesh and roughing out some of the form. There are some proportion issues to work out & I need to capture the expression a little better before I go into any more detail. I'll add the head tilt in Maya later.
I dropped the mesh from zbrush back into Maya for these pics to see it in perspective. I'll post more as it develops.
