Love the colours, coming along nicely, the person on the rock looks so greek, even at this small size.
Simply awesome, Christos! Once again, you're fixing to have a masterpiece. I'm really enjoying the glimpses into your technique, too.
The sea is outstanding :tu:
Looks awesome, Christos

Beautiful Painting!!!!Very classic looking from the figures to the water to the rocks and the sky. Looks like sci-fi done in a classic style.
I was wondering what those strings were going to be connected to. I love the old masters look that you always achieve. Very dramatic.
Do you think Photoshop 7 is worth upgrading to?
Wow! This is looking Great!! :tu: :tu:

photoshop 7 is really worth upgrading to. the painting engine is way better. custom alpha brushes with pen pressure-controllable size is something I had only found in Zbrush previously.
OK, now you've got me wondering. I know it's about 21 years since I've studied mythology, but isn't Perseus the one that's supposed to be rescuing Andromeda? :) Interesting decision to go with the role reversal there. Especially since it's being painted in a classical style.

I'm not surprised, Matt. you're a man of rare culture. :*
well.. I'm also planning for a seagull to peck away at the fish-Perseus' liver. does that ring a Prometheus bell?
I find your classical style of art and its content extreamly interesting not to mention excellent, and hey thanks for the tip about PS7, It sounds worthy of an upgrade.

I agree with all the above... great piece! Interesting contraries! So the sea-monster is now the Kraken! ;~) Great job, Excellent technique and style! Persius wearing a fish head is classic symbolism! Dichotomy perhaps? Hmnn!

it's going to take me quite a while to finish this painting (two weeks or more), but I can't resist posting an update.

That water, with the waves is the BEST I have seen here yet! Awesome detail and work. :tu: :tu: :tu:
I'm really loving the choppy water, as well. Wouldn't make sense to have calm seas, would it? I always love your work, and this is one of the best yet. Looking forward to the updates. :tu: :tu: :tu:

I wonder what you would think of Painter's engine that not only has all the above but can set a min size as a percentage and also uses the wacom's ability to recognise the direction of the brushstroke as well as it's bearing. Not to mention the ability of a brush to pick up different colours from the canvas on individual bristles in the brush, and quite a bit more, including precision control of Well and Bleed. When it comes to painting, Photoshop cannot come close to Painter. Conversly Painter's use of masks and vector tools are ****e and completely inadequate.

ah... painter. I've only used version 3 back when it came out. you know I have strong opinions on programs and painting styles. It's my belief that painter was forcing me to be very very confined, as the output of the program is quite uniform and easily recognisable. Now, using Zbrush and Photoshop has been a choice that may be a bit masochistic as it doesn't have specific settings for oil-looking brushes, but it made me develop a unique technique. The workflow in photoshop and zbrush demands that I paint every inch of the canvas, which makes projects far more challenging than even actual oil paintings.
