View Full Version : Uncle Naav's Doodle-Thread
Making a ZBrush doodle thread has been on my mind for a while already. I've been caught by the ZBrush addiction. :) I'll post different doodles here from time to time. These will probably be models that will never be finished, these will more likely be just passing ideas that need to be written (or modelled) down.
So, I'll begin with this model:

If you have any hints or suggestion, feel free to post.
Here's something I've been doodling on since yesterday (completely ignoring my test week of course :P). Actually, the low-poly mesh was created almost a week ago. I used it to practice rigging. But then I took the mesh to ZBrush and started doodling. Here's where I'm now:

looks cool for a doodle.
he has some interesting front paws/claws there.
doodle on.
Thanks.
Oh, and before anyone asks, it isn't a T-Rex (yeah, like anyone was interested in this thread). It's a figment'o'me'imagination-osaur. But sure, it's been influenced by T-Rex a lot. The low-poly mesh was based on a picture of a T-Rex.

If it isn't a T-REx I've nothing to say.I leave all to your immagination...:D
The first pic reminds me the 50's horror movies(Frankenstein,or the Hammer's movies).
Very fascinating...:tu:

I'm currently working on a cthulhu-inspired tentacle monster. It's just a prototype, mind you.

For the past two days I've been playing around with custom HDR-images and lighting 3D-scenes with them. So far they've yielded quite good results, the only drawback is the long rendering time. Normal lights render much faster. The results are attached to the post.
In case you didn't notice, the dinosaur model is the only 3D-thing in the pictures. The rest are normal photographs. The HDR-maps were generated using a silvery christmas decoration ball. The lighting is still a bit off in both of the images, mainly because I'm still quite inexperienced at lighting scenes and such.
Yesterday I started modelling a head in Silo (again). I was thinking of a man with a gasmask, but when I brought the low poly mesh to ZBrush, it turned out completely different.

God I wish I had a quid for everytime this happened to me! I can't resist following what the model itself 'tells me' while I work with it. Some of my models have started out as the god damndest things! A low poly Mace windu head I did managed to turn into the mummy I spent so long messing around with while learning.
Hey as long as it looks good and your happy with it, thats what matters.
