Well figured i'd post this to get some critiques before i start adding the finishing touches.

As you hopefully can see see ( or if not at least got from the name of this thread) it's captain america. Anaway what's left to do that i have planned is, fixing the boots to look better, tweaking the hands a bit, adding scales to the torso part, redoing the star and stripes on his torso, and putting the a on his forehead. I'll probably will work over the face also, since i'm not hhappy with the look of it right now but we'll see how i feel tomorrow when i continue to work on him. Ok that's it critique away.

Hi . Looks good, but not like Captain A. To me anyway...

I think you could do something about his proportions. Maybe make his body taller and more "hero-like". And/or define the muscles more, make him leaner...

That makes sense? :)

l think he is looking great. Will be able to give a better c and c when I see some test colors on him, but from what I can tell he is coming along nicely. I did a Capt. America a couple of years ago...and I must say yours is a whole lot more advanced than my efforts were.:tu:  :tu:

(I deleted the linked pic, just realized there was always a link at the bottom of the page)

you should give him a stronger chin.

I think he looks great and cannot wait for the cool action pose! ;)

MrLearner-I see what you mean. I think it's his arms that are the main reason for this. THey might be a bit long and hi forearms are kinda thick. I'll play around with the proportions some more since i agree that he's a bit of at the moment. I kinda like the fact that he's seriously buffed though, we'll see what he ends up looking like. Thanx for the crit.

RonHarris-Thanx man. I'll probably not texture this hi-poly guy though. He'll end up being a lowpoly guy with a normal map so that one will get textured though. I'll probably hold of on that for a couple of more days. Hoping z-mapper gets releasd soon :) .

HeggieMan- Yeah the face, it's crap. It doesent feel like CAp A at all I'll work on it and upload a closeup of it later.

Jason-Thanx but I'll probaly no make any action poses until i finish the lowpoly.

The model definitely needs some work on proportions. The torso is too short, and the arms are too thick (check the wrists and the armpit areas :) )

For the face, get rid of the wrinkles and the bags under the eyes. As suggested, reinforce the chin and make the general shape more squared. Some references from the comics may help.

Keep up the good work!

Ok i have udated the model a bit now. I changed the size of the arms a bit, but that's all when it comes to proportions. Tweakd some muscles and made some of them a bit crisper. and added in some basic wrinkles. Oh and he's got an A stamped on his forehead now. I'll still need to add the scalews to his torso armour, but when i played around with that earlier z-brush hung itself while trying to update an alpha i ahdn't made any changes to. Since i'm bad at saving that lost me most of my work making me take a long break to get over that z-brush had stabbed me in the back. Anyways here's the update. Crits and general nagging are still appreciated.
cap2.jpg

jelorol-the arms are now tweaked to a more human level. Still pretty beefy though, but i like that look. And i mean we are talking about a guy who is the poster child for steroids :) . Anyway now there's also a close up of the face. I'll probably tweak it a bit more but I'll wait a day or two and see if i come up with an idea of how a want him too look. Anyway thanx for the crit

Love the update....

Don't forget his little feather things on the sides of his head...

I think this model of yours is coming along superbly.

The little tweaks are making the difference.

Did a google image lookup for references for you in case you wanted more images to keep you inspired and trudging along. I am saving your images myself for future reference to try a go at making him again myself. Inspiring work.

Keep up the work.

tip...in case you haven't realized....I will tell you a quicky of what happens to me alot...(and more recently for whatever reason other than taxing my system) but I kind of lock zbrush up alot....whether due to multi tasking or whatever....and I will do the ctrl alt del thing to shut other processes going on....it will say alot of times that zbrush is not responding, but if I close out all the other crud going on in the background and leave zbrush (even though it's not responding) alot of the times after I do all this and walk away and give the computer five - ten minutes or so.....zbrush will pop back into action for me.....doesn't work all the time but I am having a good success rate not losing all my work during these little set back times....hope this info is a little help for ya....anyways...looking forward to your next update.

Overall it's a good figure! I like the detail and form. But as a heroic figure it looks a little pudgy, almost dwarfish. I think the legs should be a bit longer and perhaps the abdomen too. The face is a good face but it isn't a Captain America face. Too round I think. Oh and he needs the wings on his mask and the gloves should have a tapered flare coming off the back. Still it's a good model. :tu:

PS. Get rid of the white outline... it kills the look.

Hello Moebius...

Very nice model! :tu: I like it a lot especially the back. very nice muscles detail.

There's a lil something i'd like to comment about though.
It's the eyes... I think they are a bit away from the nose or perhaps it's just me :D But please don't get me wrong. Apart from that, Great model!! :tu:
I look forward to see more updates...

Cheers!

I agree with Mentat7. For a heroic scale type person he needs longer legs.

In the b/w versions the face looks o.k., but in the color version his face looks really different. Especially the nose.

his eyes are too big, his chest is too small compared to the rest of his proportions, and his legs are too short.

he needs more muscle, needs to look heroichttp://images.allposters.com/images/LASR/126-LM.jpg

RonHarris-Thanx man. Yeah at first i thought that it would come back to life, it's done that before. But when it had been dead for an hour or so i gave up, i hoped i had been smart and actually saved a coule of times. But my stupidity was the winner once again :) .

Mentat7, billrobertson42, neuroticgothguy-Yeah his legs hmm i miscalculated a bit there. I counted him being at 8.5 heads and figured the old arms where the main reason he looked short, i mean at 8,5 heads you can't really make him any taller. Only he's just 7,5 heads tall so yep i'll lengthen them a bit.
Design wise you colud say i.m going for a cross between the the early captain of the 50's and the new ultimate captain. So he'll not be getting any flares on his gloves(never really liked them), but i will add the wings.
With the face since i'm not having a clear idea of how iwant him to look il'm letting the model rest today while i'm starting to work on another character. I'll probaly finish him off tomorrow.

mentat7-You don't like the white outline, next you'll say i should'nt place a lensflare in the image either :) . Actually i just put the outline in to separate him out from the backgrond to make him read better. Thnx fort the crits.

weyvin- Thnx man. I think you may be right about the eyes, i'll look into it when i rework the face tomorrow.

mrMicro26-Thnx, the were actually more fun to model than i thought at first. Much nicer to model hands in pose rather than as open hands and then closing them.

Ok took a break from the captain america model today, actually feels like i took a break from most modeling only got 5 hours of work in today. Anyway i figured i might as well get some critiques on this model as well. And i didn't want to start a nwe thread since both of these models are done in the same spirit . Anyway critique away .

hmm, good over all except that his head is way too wide and his eyes are too far apart.

This is the work i did last friday. I think i'm pretty much calling Cap A done now. Or at least the HiPoly version of him. I'll probably do some last minute tweaks before generating the normal map /starting the scale armour higher up on the neck in the back and maybe adding some wrinkles to some areas. I'm actually kinda happy with the face as it looks now. This might be because i hink that Cap A doesn't really have a face, he's just the mask to me. Feel free too crit it anyway though if you point out something really stupid i've done i'll probaly change it.
capfin.jpg

jason- thanx man.

Neuroticgothguy-yep especially his mouth piece. thnx for the crit.

Mentat7- :D

ilusiondigital- thnx man. It's a very basic cube man modeled in Silo that i use as a base. I just used silo tho model it since when i use z-brush to do the basic shape i tend to mess up the proportions a lot. I tend to use it for most of my models nowdays. Saves me a very bring hour to work like that.

Sebcesoir-thanx.

aminuts-Thanx. These latst images are all screenshots from maya. I just don it like that to get some good perspective. Cause z-brush's perspective and i are not the best of friend. ;)

nice muscle work on the arms and body...

theres still a couple of things that need fixing, one, his fists are too long they just need to be shorten a bit, and his eyes are still too big they need to be shrunk to 2/3 of their current size.
