i know the mouth is a little funky, but its just so god darn annoying. i posted previously but it never showed up on the forum? hmph, trying again now while im bored in class.

if anyone has a better tutorial on mouths and ears that would be great, the practical guide doesnt really go into much detail about it. thanks in advance. ill do a search later when i get back home for ear and mouth stuff.

textures also seem really difficult, i tried following the practical guide on how to get the skin color and shading but it was a pain. im also having a trouble getting that soft textured look that you guys usuall have on skin and faces. for instance, beard stubble or just slight bumps on surfaces. with all the textures i use they usually get very muddy or blur'd out when i drop them on the model after being in the texture edit mode.

Patience my friend....sometimes days go by before someone will see it. The front page of the forum changes rapidly as does the bottom row up top so it might not be seen shortly after you post....so be patient.

It is my understanding that new folks posting for first time might have a bit of a waiting period before their pictures show up in their post....so again be patient....it'll arrive soon enuf.

how did you uv your guy? if you used uv tiles......remember that you need to create a blank texture first in the size you desire the texture to be at in multiples of 2 ....if you don't zbrush assumes you want 1024x1024 which is ok but you might get some funky results if you create a 2048 x 2048 texture on a guv mapped 1024 x1024 model. I generally use 2048 textures as they allow for pretty good detailing without slowing things down too much.

other than that....practice practice practice!! that's the best part of zbrush!!

A fine introduction.

A good tip is to do most of your preparatory work at lower mesh resolutions, then when you come to detail you'll find you have greater control of the flow that compliments the form.

Here's a recent video posted by Sebcesoir that may offer some inspiration with regard detailing http://www.zbrushcentral.com/zbc/showthread.php?t=22695&page=3&pp=15

from seeing alot of the sample models im amazed at the details alot of you get while in the very low mesh state. i assume thats just something i need practice with. watching sebcesoir's sculpting video was good, but im even more amazed at how well the face is sculpted out from the get go. i suppose i just need more time sunk into low poly count shaping. thanks for the tips and the help.
