After trying out the Photoshop methode making hair I did the same with the DecoBrush in ZB. I used an alpha to paint the hairs. The hair on the head is a combination of the HairsAlpha and the OneHairAlpha. On the cheek I used the SmallHairAlpha with a transparant setting of 60.

Here I used a texture in combination with the HairsAlpha.
Try it.

Thanks for posting your experiments and observations Baz.
Looks like a great technique for also painting vegetation.

Boozy, yes, when working in layers with Photoshop it is easy to select the floating layer and make an alpha of it. The brush is scaling at the beginning and the end. If you do not want that, do not use the left and right side of the document. Keep it black.
