View Full Version : 3D Fonts - Yet another great free app!
Check out

Its dxf export can be read in by ZBrush.
It can do quite a few effects with text like beveling etc.
Q can be used to get a better quality curve.
Have fun!

It's a long while since I used EleFont, but I THINK I'm right in saying that ZBrush will not in fact load the DXF file output by the program. (Unless of course they have updated Elefont in the last year or so, or the latest version of ZBrush is more tolerant of variations in the DXF internal file format).
However if you do encounter this problem with either EleFont (or Spiralizer from the same source), don't despair. Crossroads (doubtless among many other file converter programs) will import the file OK, and if you then export it from Crossroads as, yes, a DXF file again, that version of the file is readable by ZBrush.
Sorry I can't remember where I downloaded Crossroads from, and the Help About screen which I've just checked doesn't give a web site, while the Upgrade button tries to access a site to which access is forbidden! However, a quick web search on "crossroads" should find a host.

Thanks Pilou and WingedOne. It might be my memory that's at fault and maybe it was Vue d'Esprit that wouldn't load the DXF from Elefont or Spiralizer. Certainly either it or ZBrush wouldn't at the time. But both programs have moved on several versions since then, and possibly Armani's software has too. Still Crossroads is a useful program to have anyway for file conversions, even if the above use is no longer necessary. ;)

Crossroads is still useful for me to be able to load Blender output into ZBrush.

EDIT: D'oh! I apologize for bumping an ancient thread. I was looking for an answer to my problems-- didn't notice it was discussed several years ago. :o
Crossroads is still useful for me to be able to load Blender output into ZBrush. Good to know. Could you outline your basic workflow? (i.e., Blender>Crossroads>ZB>Crossroads>YafRay???)
Thanks WingedOne.

I haven't really used crossroads anymore now that Blender has *.obj export. Now ZBrush can load the exported file directly without having to go through a third app.
I used to have trouble loading *.dxf files that were output from Blender and that's why I used Crossroads to convert them.
