View Full Version : Through the Window
I have been working on a painting of this scene for some time, Acrylics on canvas, I just cannot get the time to finish it in that mode so I tried this medium. 90% Zbrush (the sky and water), the window modified from Sierra Print Artist. Comments please. http://www2.zbrushcentral.com/zbc_uploads/user_image-1007669059jja.jpg
Very inviting.
I like the framing/door treatment.
Out of curiousity, how large is the acrylic piece?
Thanks Kat. The canvas is 16 X 24. It has been quite awhile since I did any brush and canvas work, this is so much more fun with results a lot quicker.
oh i thought i would just stop by and throw in a comment you sure did a nice job on that pic :tu: :tu:

Terrific sky!
Thanks for the comments folks, I fooled around landscape painting when I painted a lot, that was a few decades ago. I am facinated by the modeling part of this program and hope to master it one day, if the great architect so permits, once I can remain vertical I will continue to enjoy myself.

I found my original sketches for this painting, and realized that something was missing. I have added it from Photo-Paint. Please let me know if the addition adds or detracts from the first image posted. http://www2.zbrushcentral.com/zbc_uploads/user_image-1007691963bit.jpg

as a design it is far superior. :tu:
as a digital fine art painting, the window turns into a 2D plank, upon which two butterflies shed shadow. it is not worse, imho, but completely changes the painting from realism into surrealism, which is fine for me :D
you're too fine an artist to ask me about such stuff, my friend

i would add fake glass like transpaerncy add it to the window and put a cross in the window like some fake wood so it looks like you have window pane.
and the bottom butter fly on the left looks in place looks like he's sitting on the edge.
the top one is ok but you can tell hes inside the window by his wing hiting the frame why don't you try bringing him in a little closer to you so it dont look like he's touching the frame..
or make him smaller and put him out side like he's far away..
Thanks. I appreciate the imput. When you work at at a painting for a long time you sometimes get lost . I personally think that I should have left them off.
personally i think just the ONE butter fly on the bottom left and make him smaller would touch it up a bit and the bottom of the frame looks like its half way showing eather put it were you can see the hole frame or cut it out of the pic so it don't half show... see the top of the frame make the bottom look the same.. it looks like 2 squares are Half showing a bit bottom right and left
This is the original painting. Maybe I should have added a tree branch in one of the top corners and call it quits. I think the "Z" gods are punishing me for mixing other programs with "Z". http://www2.zbrushcentral.com/zbc_uploads/user_image-1007697606ygr.jpg

beautiful sky.
Having struggled with clouds recently makes me appreciate this image all the more
JohnArtBox jundel started a thread some days ago on clouds. there are also quite a few zscripts by members, you should check those out to help you with your sky painting.
To all the others who commented thanks a lot, I now have to try to bring my modeling skills up to snuff.
