Another resident of my aquarium.

I've had quite a number of emails asking for lights/textures/model details so the following outlines the final model, light setup, and texture.

Another esquisite image Kathy, the texture map is just amazing, the translucency and coloring is just perfect for your little fishy friend. Just curious, is there such a fish as a hand fish?

Why yes there is such a critter.

He's about 2 inches long (they thought he was extinct not too long ago)

There is also a red hand fish.

They live in the coral reefs off of Australia's South Coast.

And Juandel! I didn't know you were a marine biologist!!! ;)

:D, Kathy: there might be a few marine biologists in austria (though it’s alpine territory mostly and no sea-shores anywhere and i wonder what they make a living off outside of the zoological gardens :D) but i’m not one of them. just a lil google-based wisecracking :D

Digits: here is a fact sheet (http://www.derwentriver.tas.gov.au/content/derwent_factfile/spothand.html) for you! :D i just wonder for the classification... as far as i know brachio means something like arm (ok) and ichthys is fish (ok) but hirsutus should mean something like hairy... are those handfishes hairy, Kathy?

I love your fishes. When do we see the entire tank...?

The entire tank will be done and featured as the dynamic frontpage for visionized.com

The fish will be buttons.... ;)

Thanks Professor Kathy and Juandel, I had no idea, certainly an unusual fish that walks on thier fins! You say they are Brachio (arm) ichthys (fish) hirsutus (hairy). Hairy Armed Fish hmmm... I take it that they aren't very good to eat :)

or it could be, Brachio (throat) ichthys (icky) hirsutus (halotosis) means a fish with bad breath.

Cool.

Armed fish? I don't think thats a good idea...Maybe water pistols...

:D :D :D i guess they use air-pistols down there :D mayhaps it’s their front-legs that are hairy, not their arms.

Actually I believe it's hairy armpits!

You can't have a hand without an arm and you can't have an arm...well you get the idea!

I forgot to use the fibrebrush is all.

HAHAHA! :D :p

Water pistols....BWAHAHAHAHA!
(took me a minute, but I got it!!!)

He's really cute looking. Looks kind of like a hawk fish. They are really cool in that they kind of bounce around and sit on their fins. If this one does the same, he would be really cool to see. Can't wait to see the finished aquarium!
