ok I give up. I feel realy stupid asking this, but how do you cut and paste objects. Say I want to remove an object from one level and put it into a differant level, how whould I do that ?? Also while I'm at it, how do you move layers around ? (i.e change layer 1 to layer 4, and layer 6 to layer 1 etc..)

For the layer that you have your object on you can either clear the layer or use the eraser tool to erase the object. If you had your object saved, you can load it and then just drop onto the layer you want. If this is a current object you're working on, then it should still be in the tool pallette for you to place on the canvas.
To move layers around, there are arrow buttons beneath the layers in the layer pallette. You can click on the arrow to move the layer to a different layer. Clicking on the right arrow moves the layer up on, while clicking on the left arrow moves the layer down one.

You can also place markers for tools within documents.
If you use markers as place holders for tools before actually placing them down you can play around with how the tools look together and then use the markers later to recall the tools at will and place them on separate layers as needed.
This may not help you with any specific problem you have at the moment, but is worth keeping in mind and incorporating into the workflow to help avoid problems.
