hi my friend, and a creative new year to you.
concerning joints: best way I've found is retouching the joints with a 2D brush, maybe smudge brush with a hint of Zadd. if this doesn't help, export the image as a .bmp, reimport in Zbrush, and retouch the joint with a purely 2D smudge brush.
hope this helps.
concerning chain links;
I always start with a torus (Ring3D tool), set symmetry to X or Y, and using MOVE mode, I create two sides out of the circumference, that is, I stretch the ring inwards, until it looks like a rounded rectangle.
hope this helps too.

Thanks christos I'll give the chain stretching a go.I would export the image BUT :( :( I only have the demo version so I can't :( :(
That's the hard way, Christos! Try baking the layer, instead. Which also happens to work for demo users. :)
being a demo user, this caught my attention. still dont know what *baking* is really good for, from what i read it's about reducing a layer (or the image) to mere pixel information, loosing all z-info and materials attributes, right? in that case, i'd prefer the *hard way* then, 'cause loosing detail is never good :)

yes matthew! GOOD thinking, that man!
I tend to shun baking, as I use many layers and baking tends to have unexpected results...
sorry for the mis-information, syco :)
Thanks for the fedback.I'll see what hapens
:) :tu: And a happy new year to all. :D

dont feel bad cneofotistos i as well dont really like using bake unless im trying to set a certain lighting effect to my images... what i do to hind seems is i export my image into photoshop and use the clone tool to do what i can...
Generally, I try very hard not to bake until I'm certain that things are pretty well cast in stone. Then it's invaluable as prep for the final touches. It's also pretty much a must for good fiber brushing, which ya'll know that I just love to use. :) The easy way to look at the process is that it converts everything that is visible from any layer to flat color on the current layer. So to prevent those "unexpected results," I turn off other layers before I bake.
