Glad to hear that this piece put a smile on your faces. I had as much fun while doing it.

Evoken & Downspiral:
This piece didn't exactly take me days to finish. 3 hours on the character., and about 4 hours on the background. Done on different days. (Actually, I was watching TV while creating the background.)

RonHarris:
Actually, I don't really have that much planning whenever I'm creating a ZBrush image. (I usually create as I go.) But most of my time is consumed by testing new stuffs :(playing with material and lightsettings) As far as style, I find it easier to flushout cartoony stuffs than other style. Maybe because I came from a 2D animation background.

Silent Bob:
I hope your younger brother likes it.

To everyone:
Thanks for the warm welcome.(back.) The overwhelming support of the people here is just one of the many reasons I keep coming back to using ZBrush.

This is really adorable, and quite a departure from the style of yours that I'm used to (Cheetor, Robin Hood, etc.). First rate work, and suitable for any children's book!

I've always liked your style and technique Saint.

I had a quick study of it as seen below...all up 30mins....another 30mins and I would have finished it. I wasn't trying to copy your original.....just understand it. Anyway the study was mainly under all default settings.

What I like is the speed, the effective simplicity, and almost ethereal approach within all your pieces. They are well crafted, and are a great 3d approach. Simplicity as you know is a great thing to attain.......because it is the last thing to learn within art. Excellent works.

Am I correct in assuming that you deform spheres as you work?

Ed, That's pretty cool.

Saint, I knew this was your work as soon as I saw the thumbnail. I would love to have such a recognizable style someday. Yeah, I smiled. Thanks :D

Thanks again to everyone's nice comments.

I'd like to personally acknowledge Ed the atom's keen observation on things. (sign of a genuine artist.) You hit the nail right on the head!
As an artist, being able to breakdown a complex scene into simple objects is one of the important things I learned. It took me awhile to figure out these things.
Understanding the relationship of shapes, colors, (among other things) is very effective in designing a character. I view the world differently since then.
When I look at people or animal., I see shapes: (spheres, circles, cubes)
To better understand what I'm saying, here's an example of Tex Avery's design. (One of my idols during my early career as an animator.)

http://www2.zbrushcentral.com/zbc_uploads/user_image-1011121217chx.jpg

As you can see., this character evolved from a couple of circles. This is why I find the ZBrush approach so close to traditional method. Everything I create start from a simple "sphere"...

Absolutely.

It's the FIRST lesson I teach.

Cute puppy. And you know, that's the FIRST use of lens flare that actually mandated it's use. It just looks PERFECT.

Your employer is lucky to have you on board.
