...the head is an after thought - something about a torso with no noggin, ugh!
Both the torso and head are zspheres, created seperately. The mouth was an old sphere model, multimarkered with the skinned head.
Masking in the pectoral area was something I tried, with, I think, more success then building up the muscle with zspheres first. Worth exploring more, what with my current skills as a modeller ;)
Any advice, hints, tips would be welcomed greatly.

In my opinion the mouth is a little too big :) and the torso perfect

Cool creature Tony,
As far as tips,
I usually model from adaptive skins to achieve high detail with none of the bumpiness you get from unified skins.
Also, I find it easier to model the whole torso from the base of the skull down to the bottom of the torso. This allows you to visualize the muscles better as well as giving you a complete structured form to work with.
Anatomically, your model looks good however the upper abdomenal muscles seem all bunched up and the nipples are a little too close to each other... they actually are located on the outside area of the pectoral(chest) muscles. The overall shape and form look really good though!
Hope this helps some,
Best regards,
Michael

Thanks for the tips Micheal. I admit that the adominal was rushed - which is pointless if I'm supposed to be practicing.
One thing I find, when trying to build a complete head/torso, with zspheres, is a lack of symmetry. Seems like the tweaking of zsphere position is a somewhat endless endevour. More likely, though, I just need to learn more about using them.
Frenchy: the mouth... hmmm, what can I say? ;) It wasn't my intent to create a "realistic" head; had it been, then yep, that mouth is positvely huge :D
