Hi all,

I don't have any 2d or 3d background before except a little bit of Photoshop. I want to model "something" in ZB, specially using Zsphere, however, I'm going nowhere. I don't know HOW can you make a little sphere becomes a real life object? Do you have to have a finished image in your mind FIRST before modeling? And How do you TRANSLATE that picture to REAL using Zsphere/or whatever tool? Do you have to draw well? I read the manual, watched several scripts, but still, the concept seems hard to get...

I appreciate your advise

:)hello Enter! i think the best is to begin with 3dsphere, and learn how to sculpt the sphere to do, for example , a face... then you can after use zsphere, wich allows you to sculpt more sophisticated forms... also, you have a lot of useful thread in the quicklinks... maybe one day aurick or someone else will do a "getting started" step by step? ;) friendly M.

 oh, and i did'nt really answer: yes and no: sometimes i have a very precise idea of what i want to sculpt, something i just "play" witrh things, and sometimes good (well i hope) pictures come this way...

Modeling Zscripts are a very good source to get the hang of modeling , later you only watch those zscripts that introduce new technique.

I basicly learned modeling from a sphere by watching some included pixolator modeling scripts and then trying to reproduce characters. My first one was Shrek I think.

First time you get horrible results because you dont really know how to make a nose , mouth , eyesockets or whatever , what happened to me was that I started modeling on a sphere immediatly without rotating it to get the poles on top and bottom , which made it pretty hard to get a decent model in the nose/mouth area. :)

Modeling with zpsheres is probably the easiest with unified skinning. you just block out a basic form you want with spheres (lots of tutorials on making a zpshere model) then you skin it with unified skinning. You make it 4 times bigger by using the deformation size slider 2 times and you start sculpting ...

Hi Enter
A very quick another solution :)(whitout Zspheres)
:b3: Draw in 2D the global profil of your future objet (as a "top view" or a "side view")
:b3: Grabb it
:b3: Make Alpha 3D
:b3: Push/Pull as usual
But you right Zspheres are incredibily powerful
That's all

Ps In any case of solution training you with little model at the beginning :)

hi enter,

its as easy as learning to draw by drawing circles for the basic forms and then connect, and then add detail... so, just do that with the zspheres, its fun and easy.
