This guy is really worn out. Its always good to see human condition on models.

SolidSnakexxx : thx a lot for comment, I spend a lot of time to test for creating a good human skin, as you can see from my previous work and it's good for me read this type of comments:)

Mytholon : thank you very much ! It's important for this wip to show the sense of effort of this "man at work". This is the head model, now I have to give him life with expression and with a body. I hope to make a good work for the final render that I'll do in XSI with normal map created in ZB before.
Thx again and congrats for your last work, it's amazing :) :tu:

congratulations!!! very cool work!!
I adore the skin texture.. and the whole work..
just a couple of tips: try to add some details in the ear, but first try to change the light and/or material of the eyes, I think they could be better integrated with the entire face..
however.. great work!!! :tu: :tu: :tu: :tu: :tu:

It is looking very good, but some things catch my eye. The speculars of the skin are very hard. Try to use more contrast on the main light but less specular... mmmm, I mean, more like Splinter Cell :)

Also, the helmet could look better with a more plastic material.

Keep it up!

Drummer
06-11-05, 12:58 PM
many thx, friends, for comments!!

Dikie : thank you very much for your much appreciated comment :)

Matthh : thx !! the alpha is taken from a macro jpg of a skin, converted in grey scale.

lodenfactory : thx a lot !! your last work is amazing too !! :tu:

Jhotun : thx, man for your suggestions, but the problem is maybe the diffuse because the specular is very very little...about the helmet you are right, this is not the best material I can use. great Splinter Cell.
great your last work and congrats for top row !! :tu:

Hey Drummer, you are doing a great job there. I love the blur on the back rocks, it makes it very real.
The light from the candle to me looks very photoshop filter. Umm, maybe you should try a different one or make it by hand :D

The specular looks much better now. Are you going to work on the helmet? Think that it is a very simbolic object of that guy, it has to look perfect :)

Keep it up!

I like the subject matter. I'm glad you smoothed out the helmet a bit. although the use of the gold texture is a little confusing to me.

The rock texture as well as the metal rod/spike thing look nice, as does the body skin. I think the wrinkles of the glove, just at the wrist, need work. Right now they're a bit muddled and could use some sharpening. The texture also doesn't give a sense of realistic wear. In fact, the wear seems uniform across the entire texture.

The fabric of the shirt doesn't look so much like fabric, but papier-mache. Like the gloves, I'd like to see some realistic wear on the shirt. Arm-pit stains around the bottom rim of the arm hole, and maybe some more distinct staining around the neck hole and belly.

The color of the pants looks pretty cool. Nice and grossly dirty look. Unfortunately, the texture doesn't really resemble anything but the craggy face of Edward James Olmos. There is nothing that looks to me to be realistic creasing around the crotch area. I'd tone down the bumpiness and concentrate more on defining a look that better suits the pose. His left leg seems to be coming forward, so look at what your pants do when you move your leg forward to get an idea of what sort of wrinkles are formed.

The facial texture itself is pretty good, but the specular seems a bit confused. I don't get any sense of recent exertion on this guy's part. Where is the shininess from the sweat? Also, take a look at an anatomy book to help out with the vein in his forehead. It looks more like a random line when it could really be a nice addition to the image.

I really enjoy the setting and the feel you're going for. I just think it's lacking in places that keep it from being a better piece. Tighten up the displacement a bit and decrease it's overt impact. Even though the character is stylized, shoot for more realistic feel to the accoutrements and I think it'd help to ground him in reality and bring the work home.

Keep it up!

Alec

Drummer,
Hi , I just caught this one. It cool I especially like the gloved hands. Great work man.
I'm curious is the body in the final image the same one that is in earlier zsphere step by step post?
Also how did you make the shirt so it fit the body so well?
I still have a lot to learn about Zspheres.
I appreciate the obvious amount of time and work that you put into your posts. Keep posting man

mattcioffi and monstermaker, it's an honor for me read your words !! I love what you have done !!

mattcioffi : thank you very much for comment! I'm really glad :)

monstermaker : thx a lot man for your attention!! you have a lot to learn about ZPheres ?? You !!?? :D are you joking, man ?
about the body, yes it is the same that was in the step by step...I changed only the abdomen, I made it fatter, like a man who likes to drink a little bit, eh eh :).
Then I added the bands on the arms with the projection master (double sided, without fade) in 2 or 3 steps. I have done thess particular things after having converted the zspheres to poly3D.
The shirt is done from a selection (ctrl + mouse) drawn on the body, like the Meats' wire style tutorial (I have just used this tecnique for clothes in "Spare Part Factory WIP"). I think the wire style is Meats property, but his tecnique can be useful for other things, for clothes it's perfect !!
I hope to have been helpful (I know you are joking:D ).

If you like I can give you my MSN address
(no problem if you don't):)

Hey Drummer,
I wasn't joking. I know very little about Zspheres. If you look at my work it's mostly heads or simple shapes. I suppose I should read up on them or watch some of the zscripts. I usually like to figure stuff out by doing rather than reading but I keep getting wierd stuff happening when I use them and make an adaptive skin. I've usually made unified skin
off of them because I found them to be closer to the zsphere shapes that I created. I didn't even realize that you had to store the morph target until I saw your step by step post today. I would put the zspheres in the final position that I wanted. Hey I've only been doing this for about 6 months I have a lot to learn. And yes I would like your address thanks
