I found some tutorials here but they all begin with o low poly model in max then to z-brush and back (i modeled the pig in z-brush with z-spheres)

I think You should post it in the ZBrush Main Forum ... Great Model. More please!

Very Nice Pig.:D

Try this:

ZBrush Steps:

Save your mesh as a .ztl first (you've probably done this already).

Take the mesh down to subdivision level 2 deleting the lower sub-d level, create a cage (press the cage button next to the divide in geometry section).

Export this caged mesh as an OBJ. Now you can create the displacement map. Change the Dis map res to say 2048 and click create displacement map, don't raise the divide sub-d levels leave them. Export this as a TIFF.

Then export your material and bump maps from Zbrush

Open Photoshop and disable colour preferences before you import your displacement tiff, Edit>Colour Preferences>Don't colour manage

then go

Image>Mode>RGB Colour & resave as TIFF

here you can also flip the map verticle (this will save you having to flip the V (-1.0) for the map in the Max material ed. You can do this flip map verticle for your diffuse and bump maps, but not the RGB colour.

Import your OBJ mesh into Max(if your using Max3-6 you will need to get the Habware OBJ import/export plugins, they're free),

http://www.habware.at/duck6.htm

Convert to editable poly, stick on a Turbosmooth and adjust the iterations to suit your mesh and the amount of ram you have. Place a Displace mod on top, make sure you check Luminance Center & Use Existing Mapping. Place your displacement TIFF in the map slot, not the bipmap slot of the Displace mod, and adjust the strength and decay to your liking. Bring your other maps onto a different material and assign to your mesh as you normally would in Max.

That should do it.

Thanx Scratchy!
I will try it tonight...
I got the obj importer and importing the mesh works fine..
have another question for the displacment settings...
I read somewhere about the DPSubPix, should be 4, or can I have it a little lower? (the disp map took 1 hour to do... )

anyway I'll post some progress later...

here is another render.....hope you like it
(my girlfriend thought it looked obscene, dont know what she mean... ;) )

I can remember seeing that (DPSubPix) somewhere as well milqtoast. But I can't remember if it is for exporting to another program apart from Max? I'm testing this myself now. The mesh I'm working on is a full body mesh so it's taking about 1 3/4 hours, ouch:).

Did you build the base mesh in Max or use ZSpheres?

Thanks for the info on the DPSubPix milqtoast, I'm interested in seeing the results of bumping it up to 4.

Scratchy:)

Hello!
thanks for your replies...
the mesh is made of z-spheres and converted to an adaptive mesh
it's actually just a modelling exersize.
A friend of mine are playing in a band named P.I.G (Preserved in grace) so I was just joking with him...I wanted to do something mean, like the ones in "Hannibal"....i think it was that movie...

I rendered it out in max and it worked the way you lined out Scratchy...thanx:D

I made a disp map 2048x2048 and DPSubPix level 2
I'm going to try a level 4 and let it render til tomorow

see you.

I think I like the neck.

still working on the teeth and gum, and the inside of the ears.
later I would like to try some fibers

anyone know a good Z-brush eye tutorial ( I think the eye for the lizzard in the Practical guide is good but I like to try some other tecnics)
