I'm creating a flower (not finished yet) and a pistil. How do I need to behave to put the pistil and the flower together, so that both becomes one unic object for export as OBJ?

I need a tutorial or a detailed explanation please:)

looks like a mission for the Multi-Markers-Tool, Guitta! :D

you can find several threads covering this tool in the QuickLinks under "Tools".

anyway, i have just recorded a mini-script showing the how to dos - you might want enable "show actions" - secret lies mainly in enabling about anything in the markers-modifiers. theres a separate button to export as .obj in the tools-window. about importing into other apps and its behaviour there i dont know nada because as per now i am z-purist - but you will find lots about that via the search function.

hope this helps

WOW! Thanks juandel

That's great. I have just seen how it works. I had no problem to export things, but I did not understand until now, how the multimarker thingy works, even not after having downloaded and seen 10 times the well known older multimarker sript.

Your's made me understand and I will exercise now to get it deeply in my head.

Thanks soooo much :)

Ok juandel, I got this one. But there is one problem I cannot resolve. When I create the pistil and want to put it in the center of the flower, t always goes behind the flower. I cannot find out how to move it forwards.

What am I doing wrong?

Hi Guitta!

Draw your flower and rotate it so that the petals are all facing you, rather than viewing it from the side. When you get close to the orientation that you want, hold down the Shift key so that it snaps to the axes. Use Transform>Move>Info to place it at the exact center of the cavas. Place your marker.

Next, draw the pistil. Rotate it so that it's also facing the proper direction and again snap it to the axes. Use Transform>Move>Info to place it at the center, too. Adjust the depth as best you can from this angle. Now use Transform>Move>Info to move it about 100 on the X axis. Place your second marker.

Clear the canvas and choose the MM tool. Draw the grouped object. Enter Edit Mode and rotate it so that it's viewed from the side with the pistil visibly offest. Hold down the Shift key as the angle gets close to snap it again (trust me -- this helps a LOT). You'll now be able to easily click on the Pistil and drag it to the center of the flower, as well as repositioning it vertically so that it's the right depth. Because you've snapped it to the axes, you won't change the depth of the pistil in relation to the petals -- your movements will be confined to a plane that cuts right through the center of the flower. This makes it a snap to position things right!

Hi Gebe
After the lighting explanation of Aurick my little trick will be "little" :)
Just draw a little sphere in the middle of your flower
Draw the pistil on this little sphere so this pistil will be right positionned :)
It's the concept of Zbrush !
All new object is drawing perpendicular of a "pixol" on the screen (if exist of course :)
And just Mark the pistil :)
As the sphere is not marked you obtain your perfect multi-Marker !

Hmmm! I have tried this and get it now for the pistil.

But I have another problem now: I wanted to replay juandel's script above, to see how he placed the stem of the flower. I have called the script and enabled "show actions". But when I click PLAY, the SHOW ACTIONS becomes greyed out and I cannot see it anymore.

Why?

great advices, Matthew and Pilou - and congraz on getting the thingie placed, Guitta :)

about script: you have to enable the "show actions" button above first (not the slider) - the function of the slider that you were using is to delay the "show actions" functions and is working when the button below "previous" and above "hide zscript" has been pressed only.

as for my placing: i recorded the script quickly after i saw your request... i didnt take care to place the parts properly - as i had created them in a blank document i was pretty sure that they were sitting on same depth and therefore moved the objects by holding the alt-key without releasing the mouse-button. since 1.5 versions this is the alternative way to move objects without having to switch into gyro-mode - so there wont be anything to see re: moving the objects, even when enabling show actions, i am afraid :)

hope this helps!

Thanks juandel,

your script is great and Matthew's and Pilou's tips are so too.

It's me who is dumb.
