View Full Version : My Dog Ruby
This is one of three dogs that share the house with us - or maybe it***8217;s the other way around!! Ruby actually said she didn***8217;t think her likeness was 100% but as I pointed out to her, ***8220;You***8217;re only a dog, what do you know!***8221; This is the first animal I***8217;ve tried in ZBrush, maybe some time I shall make it a complete dog, rather than just a head. Thanks to Stonecutter, I have been able to improve on the rendering.

Amazing amount of personality you achieved in the expression...I feel I know Ruby a little just from this image! :tu:  :tu:
(I think somebody is ready to start playing with the fiberbrush and hook brushes...)
Fine piece, Dave! :tu: :tu: :tu: :D

Sweet Doggy !!! :tu: :tu: :tu: :D
I can't speak to likeness, but those eyes just melt the heart. :tu:
Thanks for the comments friends they are appreciated.
Dave.
Ditto to all the above. I think this is very well done.
Oh she is beautiful! Tosses over three bones for the trio ;)
hmmmm OK im going to guess..... a pit <head shape >? hmmm maybe boxer <eyes>? You know.... If you make her head 12 ponds larger, add some wrinkles around her head and snout, longer ears she will look just like my Bullmastiff Athena!! lol. You did some great modeling!! I cant even come close to anything with a heart beat!
Those perked up ears really capture the reaction to "dinnertime!" being announced. The texturing is very well done :tu:

Everything seem`s perfect, I want to see your next :D
To answer Smiles, Ruby is an English Staffordshire Bullterrier, registered with the Kennel Club but would not meet their standards as a show dog. The vet nicely described her as a ***8220;throw back***8221; to the earlier days, when there was more terrier than bulldog in the breed. Her ears and eyes are too big, head and chest not broad enough. But on the ears - we let her watch Dumbo when it***8217;s on TV, as this gives her some consolation.
Stonecutter and cneofotistos mentioned using the fibre brush and the snake hook. I***8217;ve been playing around on an image of our little black and white, rough-coated terrier. Once I start using fibre brush and the snake hook it somehow loses some of its 3D quality that I was able to achieve with Ruby***8217;s smooth coat. Obviously, something I am going to have to keep working on.
Thanks for everybody***8217;s comments.
Dave
You've got a great material, which enhances the beautiful work that you've done with shading. The modeling is excellent, too. I like the floppy ears, and the expression. Ruby should be flattered!
Thanks for answering DM :) I wasn't far off! lol. She is gorgeous! Throw back or not :)
Pups and kids always catch my attention being the proud Mom of three, 2 legged kids and seven < not all in my house> , 4 legged kids lol. According to the vet our girl roxy is also a terrier
Once again you did an awesome model of her, and i am looking forward to see what the other 2 look like!
Keep up the great work ;)
