The dog head one is a great start. I can definately see you getting better. All you need to do is keep at it.
Every model you make you will learn something from. Don't add too much detail right away. I find it easier to "Sketch" out the main shape of the object first and then zero in on the details I want. If you add details too early, you will only end up sculpting over them again...
