hey, Haven't been here in a while. but anywho.

Is it possible to give zbrush an interface like Maya and or 3DS?
Instead of having collapsable toolbars
could you have a toolbar on the leftside (or rightside) of the screen, and the tools would be in sub-folders?

Hi Paw
You can put any Tools in any place as you want :) In midle of canvas like following !
Just Ctrl+ clic+drag !
Go there for example :) (http://www.renderosity.com/homepage.ez?Who=Frenchy%5FPilou&ViewArticle=3050)
For the interface Go here :) (http://www.pixolator.com/zbc-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=011004)

:)

The question should be, can 3DMax have an interface like ZBrush?

I use Maya, and to make ZBrush 'look' and 'feel' like Maya would be taking a step backwards in interface design. I feel that Maya's interface is very advanced due to its complete customability. But ZBrush is very customizeable itself. The ability to have multiple, easily-accessed, custom interfaces adapted to particular tasks or workflows is part of it. The ability to have an extremely streamlined interface with only the items you actually use is a big part of why I think the interface is good.

Check out this Review of Customizeable Interface features (http://www.pinhead.robbes.com/4review/zb1/RZBrush1a.html).

ZBrush's interface was created specifically to accomodate ZBrush's unique capabilities.

While you cannot change this to be a traditional Windows interface with drop-down boxes and so forth, you do have several ways that you can customize your ZBrush experience.

This thread (http://www.pixolator.com/zbc-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=004583) provides an excellent starting point. The Float Menu allows you to move most interface items to any place that you would like, and combine them to create new palettes. In addition, with version 1.55b you can now store and load configurations by name. This way, you can create custom interfaces for specific tasks such as modeling, texturing, lighting and rendering, etc. The possibilities are pretty limitless.
