This started out as a rowboat model. . .
I ended up making a 3 mast schooner, a lifeboat, 1 sailboat, a house with about 700 parts, a few cannons and other odds and ends.
Not one of the damn things are in here!
Hahahahahahahaaaaaaaa...

Drifted whilst making textures and pipes in ZBrush.
Everything here was made in ZB, including the atmosphere (started with plain white background, no sun, no atmosphere or shadows) rendered once in Bryce for positioning and then totally re-rendered in ZBrush.
My son said this reminded him of Final Fantasy VII - He's a game freak.
Different for me.

90% + of this scene is ZBrush - I did the "object and perspective math" in Bryce and then replicated each scene position by eye.
(I realize this can be done in ZB also by using Multi-Marker tool which I have yet to learn properly)
All the pipes, structures, textures and odd objects were remade from saved tools/deformed on the fly in the program itself.
The sky is 3 Bryce renders of 'atmosphere' I painted in ZBrush then imported back in with masks. (the 10% difference)
The water and reflects are painted and cloned using a plane as a "perspective guide".
There's easier ways to do things but I haven't got to them yet. I also rendered a version in Bryce but I liked the ZBrush result better - seemed to keep the color without washing out sharpness.
Plus the Bryce render took all night while ZBrush rendered in minutes.
All finish work was done in the program and only post was jpg conversion and sig.

Takes me quite a while to complete an image due to various reasons. I would like to become more involved here at ZBC as I find myself relying heavily upon the program since Oct, 20.
(Ironically, vision is one of my liabilities and prevents me from getting around as I would like to)
I "see" some of you at 3d Commune where I moderate in the Bryce gallery/forums and thank you for your encouragement and comments there.
ZBrush has really opened some new and interesting doors for me. I'm hooked.
My best wishes to all,

Paul

Great sci-fi scene. Thanks for the description of the methodology behind this one. And thanks for the chuckle: "not one of the ..... " funny stuff!

:tu: colors. I LOVE THE COLORS
:tu: lighting. GREAT lights.
:tu: water noise. Just the right amount.
:tu: reflection. Just the right amount. It doesn't confuse the eye.
:tu: structure. INTERESTING and believeable.
:tu: environment. Perfect. Suits the "weight" of the pipe architecture.

As you know, I've already raved about this when you posted it at 3DCommune, so nothing really to add. It's simply fantastic!

It would be neat to see that Bryce render that you spoke of, just for reference. I've had a couple Poser scenes that I've rendered in both programs, posting them here to show how good the ZBrush rendering is (quite aside from its incredible speed). It would be great to have that visual feedback from the Brycean perspective.

Many :tu: :tu: :tu: :tu: :tu: :tu: :tu: on this. I know that I'm raving again, but it's hard not to. :) Thanks for posting this here!

I could swear that the steam and mist is actually rising and moving on my monitor. I like those mysterious structures in the distance and the reflections on the water are awesome however you did them.

Hi PinheadPaul,

Very, very nice. Interesting how different images can put different thoughts into your head. When I first saw this I wondered what it would sound like, being in your world . . . not sure other than it wouldn't be silent. :tu:

Then I read Stonecutter's - Gibson vision and it clicks for me too :D

Again, very nice !
