Greeting and Salutation to everyone on the boards. At the moment I am working at University in CHEM but my passion still lies in modeling. For this reason I have persued an ongoing project of the human face for annumber of months, mainly through observation , setting a right fram of mind and philloisphy for the project. At the moment working 1hour per day for the last 2 weeks I have been working on the initial stages of the male face , taking in consideration proportions , anatomy and planes of the male face. The majority of my reseatch can be seen in the model you are observing below. As I mentioned this is an ongoing project and its always changing.
I realised after some reading that one of the fault of my design is the fact that my mind is some what infected with memes that are more or less inhibting my work.
As a result of this , I have decided to post my work on this board so that I may if possible gane an insight into your thinking on the model .
I hope to make this post an ongoing work and will try to post daily updates and findings if time allows.
I will also try to gradually post my method and idealogy of work.

Hi Kircho
For the moment it's the Invisible man :)

Hi again so sorry probs with uplaoding :)
I'd like to comment alittle on the work if I may....
This phase of modelling is intended for creating a base or template for the male head so it is really a bare outline of the skull ..no faty tissue or muscles as yet.
Main features of face are not completed!
Model is created in maya ::

thanks for your time

Its looks good from what I can tell. I guess your gonna take it into zbrush and finish it up? One thing. In the four picture on the bottom left. The bottom left, and top left image show that he is missing the flatness around the temple area. You could always do that in Zbrush, but it might be best to just pull those vertices in before eporting it. I know thats kinda picksy, but its the only thing I could see to complain about :)
HI Rasor,
I thought i'd make it clear that yes this model will be taken into ZB . But it is along way to be finished .
It may seem od that I am posting this image in the ZB forum but I hope to make this more appearnt tomorow.
Based on progressive update of this base mesh I create a ZB version of the face with features which I observe and record. The idea is to work in Unisen with both projects to slowly train the mind to the features of the face, in this way one compliments the other.
Now to your comment.... :).. Yes actually I had this biting my ear for the last two days and I thank you for the confirmation, it does need to be flatter in that area.
This is exactly the kind of idea I am after as I am shooting for complete realism in form and shape :)
thankyou kindly for your comment

Np. Your attention to detail is evident even at this early/low poly stage. Its amazing how accurate you can get with so little polygons.
I can already tell this is going to come out amazing in the end :tu: :tu: :tu:

Seems to me that your observation and research is paying off quite well. Keep us updated as the project continues :tu:

Kircho--------------------------------------
Hi again, after yesterdays test I found many things wrong with the base mesh, concerning the shape of the cranium and mandible. Not all problem have been fixed due to time restriction . I welcome your comments :)

I went back to or three minutes after I posted this becuase it just did'nt look right, here is what I came up with(please look below) , a very slight variation but for me it make a difference. My question is which one is more anatomically correct in your opinion?
thankyou once again
Kircho-------------------------------
You may view the new version of the base mesh in my second post above...my apologies for the confusion.

Greetingz ,
due to some technical problems I was not able to keep the first phase of the base mesh, up on this sight. To solve the problem concerning the link I uploaded the newer version(prmised in my last post), in its place.
I am very sorry for wasting your time.
On a brighter note... I hope to sit down tonight to try the new base mesh,to have a new face by morning :).
Thankyou once again for your efforts and again my sincere apologies.

Hi again,
this is the second time I'm posting , hopefully this will not come out as a double post.
I present to you Ruman ::

Yes I decided to name them :)
Eyes nose and mouth are not detailed as yet, 1 hours work over dinner :)
any comments are welcome
Kircho---------------------------
Hi Kircho, well nice job on the nose and the mouth. :) Looking great already, although I think in general don't try to get the absolute proportions of a human head because there's no such thing. ;) The craniums of people differ so much based on genes development and so many things the only important thing to remember is their proportions in relation to each other. But even those are viable to change, unless you have a specific person to model in mind, there are no "correct proportions" in my opinion.
I think you are a talented modeller and I think you should let your creative mind flow more into your work, work more with your memories than a protractor. ;) :) :tu:
Of course, the great John Buscema once said you can only change the rules when you know the rules, so perhaps this is the best foundation practice. :)

Greatinz once again, no new face for now but hoping after I finish work tonight to make some time :)
Nice to meet you gummie , your comments are more then I deserve but you have my thanks just the same :)
It has been a dilema for me, for quite some time to create a realistic human face and through much experiment I found that it is almost nessesary to begin , adobting the methodalogy of traditional subjects such as science and mathematics, where concepts and idioms are gradually accepted by students though practice and diligence, later used and utilised("not broken")in problems.
Our mind created though evolution is constantly evolving and changing it self. Nieve and impressionable like a small child it waits for a toy to play with , registering every dimesion and characteristic, once at hand. Thourgh this excericse the reality of our lives becomes appearent , we are able to register the existance of other similar objects changing the initially percieved view of an object to help explain another....an so we build not only our surroundings but our way of thinking and doing.
For me this exercise is not only a means of learning the characteristics of the human face "Our face", but also to train my mind to accept the form and shape as a permenant memory , almost to an instinctive level of knowledge, so that as you say the process becomes a second nature where only memory comes into play.
I hope I am not being too much of a rationalist :).....
thanks for your comments as of far, all have been highly constructive, except for maybe the one about silver serfer...joke ;) and I am most greatful for that.
peace

Me I just know it and paint it. No pretention, no ego. After all I live on the planet and see humans....odd really.
Still...whatever it takes I suppose. For myself a sojourn like this is in the seventh house...

Still, may your efforts reward your soul. ;)
Thats a very interesting ............
I would love to see your work !! :)

Greetings to all once again. Just finished my work at UNI has been a busy week so no update. I came home and decided to wip up something quick, which explains the nose and the eyes .
I tried to focus more thise time on the corectness of the orbital area and the transition between nose and cheek.
Here are the results :: http://www2.zbrushcentral.com/uploaded_from_zbc/200303/user_image-1048247392rtz.jpg

Greetings all, having been hit by an apiphany this morning I set down for a couple of hours to create --Sam(see below)--'s face. As can be seen eyes are not completed and lips are off, but I am happy with the shape.
These are not progrssive shots simply shots from different angles of perspective :: ::

I corrected slight glitches on the base mesh and changed the orbitals and cheek.
As per usual any comments are welcome :)
