Hello everyone,

Well i'm pretty much new to Zbrush. I've been using Maya for about 3 years now and have gotten very used to it. Now i've browsed through the forums and to my surprise... I can't export objects back to Maya once they are edited within Zbrush? Is this true? So basically please correct me if i'm wrong, Zbrush basically deals mainly with 2D once any 3D objects are imported into the program? So i'm stuck with editing my object in Zbrush once i've applied textures, etc. to it? This wouldn't be very productive in my opinion, as the only reason why i'm using this program is to simplify the whole texturing process, but then export the final back to Maya. Anyone care to explain what i can do exactly with Zbrush in lamen terms?

Thanks.

Well i guess my assumptions are correct then. I have no use for this nice program then.

Your almost as grumpy and impatient as me. I just put into the little 'search' box maya and lo and behold information on what you were looking for.

By the way I dont own either Zbrush or Maya (although I will be a zbrush user soon) but I have trawled these forums reading and gathering information etc for the past 6 or 7 weeks so dont let that put you off.

By the way I am not taking the mickey. I really am impatient for answers when I post onto forums. Ask anyone who knows me.

Hope these help. I only typed in Maya and nothing else. There are other links that the search brought up.

Here is one link:

To fast to get conclusion !!! is not a good strategie!!
I suggest you must read the tutorial at the end of the ZBrush2.0 Manual (15 pages) by PAUL HOURMOUZIS that work a lot in Maya and ZBrush.

For someone who is working with Maya, you sure have very little patience.

There maybe be alot of members but you have to remember that Zbrush is as unique as it's user base, everyone uses Zbrush for different reasons, unlike Maya. So it might take a little while to get an answer from Maya users who also use Zbrush.

If I remember correctly the Weta team used Maya...I could be wrong of course as I am an old goat with the memory of a slug....but somehow they managed to get objects in and out so.....I guess zbrush works ok.

if you are one of those folks who won't do their own homework or take the time to learn on their own then maybe zbrush isn't for you. It is it's own animal and needs an owner that cares enough to do the research before purchasing.

Hi, I donīt know exactly if I understand you, but actually there is a way to export from zbrush to maya, and is pretty simple. Once you have your model ready you go to tools and instead of saving it as a tool you export it as object (With textures) .obj. That way Iīm pretty shure you can import it to maya (I do ti with strata CX and works pretty well).

I hope this can help.
