Discarding color for the moment, I dedicate this image to the birthday girl of April 12th. Jaimie in Z-brush, her wall and <3 in Photoshop.

Hi all, first post here so I'll try hard not to embarrass myself too baddly.
First off, Color, I really loved this. I do have a newby question though. Not being really familiar as yet with ZBrush, I would automatically think your work was a photo turned to B&W or greyscale in Photoshop with some background and animation work augmented by Zbrush. Is this the case, or was this drawn totally in Zbrush and I'm feeling even more inadequate than I was before seeing it?

Truly amazing work, 10/10, I've seen a lot of artwork on this forum, but this one tops most. The picture is not saying "Look, I'm using MILIONS of polys and it's just so cool!". Art should have a point, like your image has. Truly great. Do I have permission to print it out and show it to a pro photographer i know? He's currently awaiting inspiration, the poor sob... I'm sure he would like to do sth like that with realworld photography... with permission of course...

cool, from the step by step it looked like a vector colored drawing for a moment and then you added "paintery" details. really nice work and to be honest , it seems you havent missed a single detail ...

The person is Zbrush , not 3D tho , painted. If I understand correctly.
Zbrush is an excellent painting program. (memory friendly smudge brush ...)

FIrst off, thanks for the feedback. I'm glad you and she liked the image.
Aminuts, that was barely my first post. Maybe my 210th.
I have browsed through the images here recently, and things haven't changed, work just improves as we progress. I haven't the time to make posts like I used to, since I have alot of ongoing projects, but any Z-brush work I create within those projects, I promise to post.
As for details, I hope this sums up all the paintings I'll ever do:
The image took about 3 1/2 hours. It was only 768X1024. I usually paint at higher res to further detailing. I've learnt that Black&white is infinitely easier to achieve photorealism than color.
I start with contour lines, then fill it all in with a colored silhouette(Bay Raitt words). I start smudging the silhouette around till the shape kind of matches. After that, I add shade detail, while smudging at the same time to get things into place. I continue to add more detail and smudge things around till I can longer do this.
edit: xompathy, I thought it would be fine, and checked with her, and she said it was ok for you to print it out as well.:)
::Thanks again.

ok, cool. I promise to send you the completed photo when it's done... and if it's done, he's a "misunderstood artist" ;)... I'll go print it out right now...

Refreshing to see someone use ZBrush as a paint program for a change. Reminds you what it's all about. :tu:
