Lately there have been a lot of very interesting posts focusing on the great
tools and effects you can add to ZBrush with ZScripts. Kudos to those of you
who have been working on them -- some very intriguing ideas have emerged.

ZScripts are a very powerful feature, and we're thrilled to see that people
are becoming more and more inspired. The more you learn, the more you'll be
able to harness their power, so keep asking questions, and posting your
ZScripts -- rudimentary ideas, works-in-progress, or complete toolsets.

There are many, many untapped resources possible with ZScripts... hopefully
ZBC members will continue to discover more of them in the future. Meanwhile
we'll continue to publish new ZScripts and further develop the technology.

Beginning Monday, January 14, Davey will initiate a series of weekly
ongoing ZScript lessons. Those of you who don't consider yourselves
"coders" will discover just how easy it is to write your own ZScripts.

As a 'programmo-phobe', you can count me in pix...
I liked the script ability MAYA had, but even then my past experience programming in Assembler code, Forth, etc. led me to an instant negative reaction to anything remotely resembling programming. I think I'm getting better now, and I'll be in class on Monday, Z-Apple in hand, ready to learn! ;)

I hope to learn also. I began programing with cards and punch holes. I must say it was not too much fun in those days. I have not done much recently but I am willing to give Davey'S lessons a good try.

OOOOHHHH! I'm up for that! I look at a script and see a lot of gobbly-gook and don't know where to start! (though I did code back when I had a commodore 64!)
This is a good investment for ZBrush's growth!
Thanks Pix, Dave in advance!

That sounds great! There are big holes in my Zscripting education due to having kindof guessed my way through them a lot... :)

That sounds like an excellent idea. The scripting ability has really drawn my interest.

Thanks!!

Upham!!!...Commodore 64???
Not only are you probably another 'geezer', but since my first computer was an Atari 400, I believe we're hereditary tribal enemies! ;)

As someone who is not a programmer ;) I am very much looking forward to these lessons. It sounds like an awesome idea, and am thrilled that Dave will be doing it.

Also NOT A PROGRAMMER. I'm looking forward to this.

Speaking of the Commodore 64(I also had one and had over $2000 in it before I was done with games and all), Zbrush is reminding me of the COmmodore 64. Don't laugh. Think about it. When the machine first came out, the games weren't much more than "Pong", VERY simplistic graphics, limited controls, etc. Gradually the software became more and more refined and, though the hardware remained the same, AMAZING(for the time) things were achieved with that unit. Remember "Defender of the Crown" on the 64? Stunning graphics, compared to the original "Pongish" stuff. Then they came up with a GUI(graphic user interface), the forerunner of their own Amiga technology, then "borrowed" by Apple, then Windows. This was 1984!!!!!They had built so much potential into that unit that was unrealized until it was discovered and developed through programming. Everyone into computer graphics nowadays owes a debt of gratitude to the folks at Commodore, especially you Lightwave users. Remember the Video Toaster, by Newtek, includig the very first edition of Lightwave, available ONLY on the Amiga? Whose mind wasn't left smoking after seeing THAT the first several times?

You see where I'm going with this? The comparison to Commodore is a big compliment. They changed the world of computer graphics COMPLETELY.

Six months ago, would any of us who DON'T work for Pixologic have had any idea "Texture Master" was possible? Or anthing else that's been raising eyebrows, hopes, and expectations lately. My mind has been blown so often lately and my jaw hurts from hitting the floor so many times.

We're just on the foundation level, folks. This is the beginning of something BIG, I believe with all my heart. We're all so lucky to be involved right now.

THANK YOU Pixolator for this wonderful opportunity.

Might get in trouble with the copyright police, but it's worth a giggle.

Hey Davey, you've got your hands full. Teaching us arty-fartys maths sums is an uphill battle. I was reading your intro again tonight ... ZScripts to the rescue! (http://www.pixolator.com/zbc-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=001010) and I'd be really appreciative if you could throw in some flow charts. It might be just me, but I'm a visual learner.
Do ZScripts work like flowcharts? My experiance with programming is something like ... "If X>10 then goto line 30" which made sense at the time.
