Hi Cheetah and welcome to ZBrush Central, I had the same question a few days ago, the answer is simple, after you switch to a different tool or create another object in the canvas you cant re-edit the object anymore!

That means that the object is lost??? there must be a way to reedit it... i hope... thx

Hey Cheetah,
I came from a Max background and there was a bit of head-scratching when I found ZBrush. It took me a while to "think outside the square" when understanding ZBrush, but trust me it's worth it!!! It's fun and addictive! I'm not too keen on going back to Max these days.
Please stick with it to grasp the concepts. It's way different from Max, but has many 3D application features!
Check out my ZBrush for newbies site found in the bottom line of my signature below. Please invest a little time to read this and understand ZBrush. Its a trip!
(and no I don't work for Pixologic!)

This Thread (http://www.pixolator.com/zbc-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=001305) had the answer to your question, too.

But I also really recommend Upham's tutorial site. It's well done, and worth your time.

If you are working with the DemoVersion you can only draw your "object" again into the
"?canvas??" will say work area (I have to work on my ZB-vocabulary). All you have done within the tools won't be lost and you can edit them. BUT.. after saving and closing the Demo, all the new drawn forms will disapear. In the RealVersion you just export your new "objects". Just download the ZBrush-manual and read carefully the tips of aurick, he really knows. :D
And of course very helpful the ZAcademy-pdf.

Don't give up, it really is easy.
