View Full Version : Editing Question?
Now I'm not that familiar with zBrushes terms yet so you may have to decipher this.
Anyways, I was doing the Woodplank zScript (tutorial) which turned out rather nice, but when you clone the planks and shuffle them around, I wanted to go back and redit some of the other planks...I can't figure out how to reslect them?!
I would exit the edit mode of the current plank, but when I tried to select different planks, it would just create new planks..How do I reselt whole meshes again so I can rotate/move/scale?
Did ya understand that?

This link should answer your question : Why Can't I Edit My Object Anymore? (http://www.pixolator.com/zbc-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=2&t=000041) :)

the process you are trying to do requires the use of the multi marker tool.1)Set first plank with texture applied
mark it with m+ in transform pallett 2)snapshot(camera in same pallet) 3) move, mark, snapshot till you have all planks set where you want them.4)select multi marker tool. 5)clear layer in the layers pallett 6)tool>modifiers>make poly mesh and look for composite mesh in tools.now you can move rotate ect. as a whole mesh.also while in muti marker mode hold cursor over planks you see the markers for each
they can be moved ,rotated ect before you make poly mesh
then reposition option in the tool>modifiers.note multi marker items will not show textures or materials until you hit make polymesh and redraw the new tool.
Actually, the Multi-Marker tool probably shouldn't be used for this tutorial, as it would be rather difficult to make a 3D object seamlessly tileable. :)
However, placing markers for each plank would indeed allow you to go back and select any one of them. The link that Mentat7 pointed you to is excellent advice.

Hey fourd!
Im quite a newbie myself but I have learned that Zbrush works with pixels aswell as with it's "own" pixols.
When you are editing an object it consists of pixels which is movable, stretchable and so on. You can do what ever you want with the object.
However, as soon as you throw up a new object on any layer you have, which will now consist of pixels, the other object will change from pixels to pixols.
Pixols are NOT editable more than that you can paint on them, you cannot twist them around or move them.
I hope you understood that =)
hey fourd and pre AChEr, welcome to ZBC! :)
I think pre AChEr has the general idea -- I would like to offer a couple of clarifications:
It might be better to think of 3d objects as "meshes" before they are dropped into place and turn into pixols
Individual pixols store their XYZ position, and in fact you can push them around kind of like magnetic sand -- you can use pixol-brushes to add bulges, push into the existing pixols, etc. (depends on the ZAdd/ZSub setting)
Also, holding the Alt/Opt key down will reverse the current ZAdd or ZSub mode
