I want to align the ring to the Black plan !
(with numeric values)
The Info x,y,z just take the rotation in movement and don't accept the values :(
Some idea ? Of course I can move the ring but it's not precise !
The function restore takes just the previous rotation :(
The Deformation Rotation don't help because I don't know the actual inclinaison :(
I am deseperated :D

The info sliders control the object's orientation in relation to the world coordinates (the canvas).

To rotate the model on the object axis, you must use the Deformation menu. This menu always works in relation to the view in the Tool>Modifiers>Preview. So to get a precise rotation, you should keep preview snapped to a right angle (you can hold down the Shift key while rotating the preview to snap the view).

The Rotate deformation operates in degrees. To rotate the Ring3D 90 degrees so that its edge faces you horizonatlly, you would simply change the Rotate to operate on the X axis and type in a value of 90 degrees. You can then rotate the preview to see the results. Just be sure to snap the preview back to a right angle (or preferably click the Restore button) before doing another deformation, or you'll have a hard time predicting results without some serious mental gymnastics. ;)

I think I have find a non relax game :D

hey Frenchy, not sure if this is what you want, but if you go into move mode (W) and drag inside the gyro (in one of the gaps), the object will align itself with the surface behind it (in the canvas, not the object preview)

hi Havran
I shall try it :)
But I believe that's is not the solution :)

Easy:

Hold the shift key, and drag in the Preview window until the ring is orientated like an "O", not "-", and not "|". Then press Store. Now the ring will be orientated flat with the black plane, not perpendicular to it.

BUT...

If the object is not one of the base ZBrush tools, and it is orientated to some odd angle, the only solution that I know of is to use Deformation:Rotate, or the Preview window and then Store. And you have to use your eye to estimate when it is aligned as well as possible. I think that Deformation:Rotate only allows 1-degree increments, not fractions, so it is often impossible to get a randomly rotated object back to perfect alignment, but you can get it to with a degree or less. This is probably good enough for 99.9% of the time. This problem of aligning tools happens all the time if you make polymeshes out of MM objects. But in the case of the ring tool, just re-initialize ZBrush and all tools will be restored to factory defaults.
