View Full Version : Enjoying The Sunset
Just another doodle to try something new in technique and composition. http://www2.zbrushcentral.com/zbc_uploads/user_image-1027578250elz.jpg
I like this one DeeVee! I really like that tree running across the foreground. I've been looking at some of your works that have similar trees and I'm still working on getting the *fronds* correct. :D
Very nicely done!

Thank you Vikki. If you look in the QuickLinks lesson 2 by Aurick for newbies, you will see how I do my fronds. This is a start, I have since modified my method and will do you a Zscript if you wish. However I think the method used in the lesson will get you on your way.

EDIT: Vikki, I did a quick script so you can see my new method. The image is not complete but you can clearly see the technique used. I hope this helps.

The composition is very strong, Dee Vee. The silhouetted couple on the tree is a charming touch, and the sky is again just beautiful. But I think my favorite part of this image is the 'dappled' effect of the light reflecting from the water. Just gorgeous!
Many :tu: s!
Lovely. :)
Those colors against the silhouette make a striking moment.
DeeVee everytime I see a new post of yours, I am forced to acknowledge your mastery of color and water play. :tu: :tu: :tu:

The Water --REAL Sun reflection off the water and the realism of the trees--splendid work and a mini trip for us city dwellers Thanks DeeVee :tu: :tu: :tu: :tu:
Thanks to all who took some of their valuable time to comment on this old mann's image. It is very much appreciated.
I whipped this up last night very late and was a bit tired, but it appears to have turned out passable for a doodle.
DeeVee,
Thanks for the script. That got it. It was the alpha I was using that was preventing me from getting it right. Off to do something with this now. :D
Thanks again! :tu: :tu: :tu:

Just "passable for a doodle"! DeeVee, you're the master of understatement as well. :D
I like this very much - the sky, the silhouetted trees, but most of all the water and the way the reflections change with the distance. :tu: :tu: :tu:

Yep, that sun sparkling on the water is masterful Joe, but the whole thing works!

Nice image Deevee :tu: :tu: :tu:
Most replyers have commented on the water. I guess you will want to know how it was done. Well here goes. You have the last script I wrote'an easy way to make water'in the quick links. instead of using the Jellybean I used gelshader1 as is, and that gave me the reflection I needed, as I moved it to get perspective I was able to get the highlight in the right spot. I hope that helps.
I've always enjoyed sunset silhouette images and this one is up there with the best of them :tu:

I find this piece "refreshing"!
Reminds me of my native land...
Keep up this kind of work!
Thanks S, Do you mind sharing where your native land is with the group?

Hi DeeVee
Have you try this ?

Pilou
Frenchy I never even thought of searhing for photos of sunsets as I have the real McCoy here. All I have to do is stand outside in the evening, and 365 days a year I have a unique sunset.
Thanks for the link, I found some of the compositions interesting and in that way will definitely prove useful.
DeeVee,
Joe.
