symmetry problem

i keep losing symmetry. seems the other side wont move with the selected point. it works at first then after a i do an edge loop of a section and i go to move the opints aymmetrically only one side will move te other side stays there. what is the problem. help plz . this is driving me crazy.

it seems that if i shut off say the x symmetry, and later turn it back, they dont line up and only 1 side moves.

have you tried smart resym yet in the tool-deformations subpalette?
