View Full Version : Image: Terrain3D
Hi all,
this is a true 3D terrain...it comes from real data!!
This is the first of experiment and investigation about using Z to produce real 3D landscape.
http://www2.zbrushcentral.com/uploaded_from_zbc/200305/user_image-1054289301zrt.jpg
Short How-To:
Using contour lines and quoted point of my land (Ancona - ITALY) to build a grayscale image of Digital Terrain Model (DTM) and color image of shaded relief.
Built the landscape object with AlphaCentaury Method.
Put the Shaded relief color image as texture.
Put a sky on background.
That's all.
In the next experiment i will use a Photographic (Orthographic) as texture.
Thank you for viewing

Interesting technique , should look realistic with a nice tecture , the shapes of the landscape already turned out very realistic :tu: :tu:

Hi Cameyo
All the earth can modelize with this method :)
A good start (http://www.terrainmap.com/) and this One (http://earth.jsc.nasa.gov/sseop/efs/)
Have happy Earth modeling :)

Hi all,
i have managed to use a real photo, but there are some problems:
i have very big photo (photogrammetric): 40 MB...
The Z offset is difficult to correlate with the true quote...
Anyway this is the current status:

A small AVI is the next step...

Hi Cameyo
You have not transpose the grey level in false colors like green, red-braun, yellow for more credible landscape ?
Pilou
The grayscale image is a real photo ... i can't convert to color without losing... reality.

Hi Cameyo
School exercice tricky trick :)
:b3:with the prog than you want, make a table of grey level (Number + code) of your original
:b3:Take a color photo in same family than your original (in your case erase the sky)
:b3:with the prog than you want, make a table of colors (Number + code)
:b3: With a prog as you want, convert in grey level the photo color
:b3:with the prog than you want, make a table of grey level (Number + code)
:b3: now the trick : fit the 2 tables of grey level (maybe some interpolate necessary if Numbers are different)
:b3: the end :) fit the table of color with your original grey level !
Result will be no so bad :)
Pilou
Quicky simulation of the process (not the process(just the concept) !
: here fields are growing up :) and some forest erased  (and no Zbrush ;)

Hi Cameyo
You don't return on your research ?
Pilou :)
Hi Pilou,
i have some trouble and .. no much time now...but here is an experiment.
Download AVI: out5.zip (http://www2.zbrushcentral.com/uploaded_from_zbc/200307/user_file-1055155090npz.zip) (430 Kb)
I hope to do all the job within ZBRUSH ;)
