Hello all you Zpeople,
Just kidding about the pugilism thing, LOL... Anyways, I was messing around today trying to get a good pointillism effect out of the Spherical Intensity Material. I got some great results so I thought I'd share them! The .zip file contains both the material and the lighting setup for the material... For the best results be sure to highlight the Render Shadows, Depth Adjustments and Color Adjustments buttons found in the render palette. Thanks for looking!
Take care,
Michael
Here's the .zip file:Pus_piontillism_mat&light.ZIP (http://www2.zbrushcentral.com/uploaded_from_zbc/200305/user_file-1054270150jwz.zip)

Well,
Thanks for the comments everyone!

Juandel,
If you were a Magazine editor with a job for me I would jump for joy! I can use all the work I can get, as I am a fulltime freelancer!

Pilou,
It does kind of look like an engraved ink print. It probably could use some more work to get it to look just right, as far as looking like true pointillism. I thought this might cause some people to try out some experiments with the technique. I haven't even tried it in color yet! That's allright though, No big deal!

What the heck,
I'm sure I'll mess with it some more at least until I'm satisfied!
Take care all,
Michael

Hi Michael,

That is great work. I've been trying to remember what it reminds me of since seeing it last night. (Darn it's hard getting old :( ) Finally remembered, it looks like tooled copper. Artists would use a mallet and tools to create images on copper sheets, then use a caustic wash to darken the recessed areas. Looking at your second image finally jogged the old memory.
