View Full Version : White Sails, Three Conch.
Another Doodle. The sloop was done at a magnification of 11 times actual.
The sky took a while using the mouse, the clouds close to the horixon were done with the stylus. the sea was quick snudge brush and simple brush, the dock was done with the line brush and brush 00. The foliage and rocks using the method described in the QuickLinks. That is about it.
Reviewing for the exam, I want to be sharp when that baby comes along. :D :D http://www2.zbrushcentral.com/zbc_uploads/user_image-1027550383tqr.jpg

Terrific as always, DeeVee. Highlights for me are the magnificent sky, and the delicately drawn foamy surf in the shallows at the base of the dock.
But how do you get away with things like that almost fluorescent lime green foliage at the top left? Block out the rest of the picture, and it looks way over the top. But look at the picture as a whole and it seems to be in perfect balance. You handle these vivid palettes so well. :tu: :tu: :tu:

A strangely satisfying image, Joe...
Like Flycatcher said, the whole thing just works, and the extreme colours in certain areas, don't look extreme at all...Some amazing colour theory in practise here!

Very nice image DeeVee! As usual, the sky always gets me. The colors are wonderful. And I really like the foliage.
I'm working on palm trees and ferns now but it may take me a bit. :D

I REALLY REALLY want to sit on that dock!!!
Gorgeous. I agree with SC and others, the colors work. You are the master of the tropics! :tu: :tu: :tu: :tu:

Really like the boat and sky Dee ~s~
You folks are so kind with your comments, I am sure you know that they are appreciated.
As far as the colours go I just add them until the image looks the way I want it to. Sometimes it takes several tries.
My method is to try something and save it then do another version and compare them, so sometimes, I may have as many as 8 different versions of the same image with different things changed around until I get the right feeling. I am sure there may be an easier way but this one works for me.
DeeVee,
Joe.

That sounds like a really sensible work method to me Joe...I've gone up to two versions, but that's it...Maybe I should raise the number, because when I thought about it, I do a second version usually with a minor variation...With more versions I might be tempted to try some really wild experiments! :tu: :D
