You'd think with all the salmon my hubby gets I'd know what color they are ~L~ Makes note to take picture of the next one.

I know the water coming over the rocks shouldn't be gold... but the more I messed with it the worse it got.

All done in one layer. Only mention that since some believe you have to use layers... no matter how many tut's I read I can't get good results with layers. "Good" not the right word... can't get anything I'M happy with ~s~

If you're doing a 2D painting, Deb, I say use one layer, and do it like any other painting would be done...
And I like the gold water!! :D

Stonecutter beat me to it, but I would also have to say that since this is a painting, one layer is the way to go. If you ever decide to do some water using the 3d plane or other tools, and wish for transparency, shoot me a line and I will give you some tips.

That soft touch is very nice indeed. I like the golden water, it's just catching the sun. :D

I love the coloring. :tu:
For 3D, I use layers all the time. For 2D, I just use a single layer. I'd like to keep 2D to a single layer, but I'd love to figure out layers with 2D to control the depth when I try to add to 2D to a 3D image. Sounds like something to work on...

A very pleasant image Debs. I am getting to the stage of looking forward to seeing your images and wondering what that fertile mind of yours will come up with next.
The beauty with art is that you can make anything any color you like, it is your image and once you are satidfied that is the most important thing.
DeeVee,
Joe. :tu: :tu: :tu: :tu: :D :D

Thanks everyone.

Tag that's my problem to. Be nice if you could make a layer 2d... so it would know you want it flat and up top ~L~ guess that's too much to hope for. Maybe this new version we won't worry about that anymore. Can hope.

Very nice image DLee. Don't worry about the colours - it's all legitimate interpretation. The water looks fine, and if the salmon were in his true livery, he'd get lost against the background (certainly at the size posted). So I think he looks fine as he is. :tu:

I don't get too hung up on whether a thing is 2D or 3D, so I do occasionally use layers in what I consider to be a painting, usually either to be able to invoke fog and depth in the render, or to keep elements separate in case I want to go back and work on them again without touching adjacent features (when I remember to plan that far ahead). But I have to agree that generally layers bring me more Z-grief than most things.
