Although I am working on more complex things as I learn about 1.5 and the incredible new tools and methods, I thought you might like a simple example of one of the new abilities...I remember a a while back, people asking about smoothing the seams on a Polymesh object...So, as my first Beta posting here's a simple one.

A cube, a cone, and a sphere, Polymeshed and then 'skinned'...Also used here was the Spray brush...You should know this took less then 5 minutes to produce, and although it is very simple, it is also my first Polymesh...Nice seams huh? :D

Yes, Mr. Michael. This is very nice! I am surprised you had not done multi-marker before. It's really one of the best things about zbrush, and one of the least used (I think).

Those are very nice seams you have there. Kind of a fun picture for us as well as you.

Thanks for the insight into another aspect of 1.5 Michael and I say that from the heart of the Betaless wastelands. Are you allowed to divulge the breeding capacity in 1.5 for Polymeshed Primitives, as I noted the abundance of young Polymeshed Primtives in the image?
Another point, as I am a Captain in the Software Commandos attached to Nato, are Beta testers able to disclose to me on a need to know basis, the top secret Zsphere’s operational details. In my high-ranking position would disclosure to me still bring the standard punishment to the informant, of Pixol’s removed painfully without anaesthetic? ;) :D :tu:

These are the kinds of post that teach us---thank you for your help in understanding the depth of the new 1.5 --and thanks personally for helping me via email to understand a few things about the Beta version--You get the clarification good guy award :D :D :tu: :tu: :D :D

Pixolator showed us alpha skinning and object smooth joining way back in april in this (http://www.pixolator.com/zbc-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=004734) thread.

We've already been shown examples of radiosity light by pixolator as well.

Not to mention plenty of examples of the new possibilities of the Zshere by pixolator.

And I believe the first glimpse that pixolator gave us of the new rendering engine was an example of the soft shadows.

It's churlish of me I know but have any images been posted by any beta tester that show us anything that we haven't already seen demonstrated by pixolator?

There's been plenty of posts demonstrating alpha skinning which hasn't been shown by Pixolator.

That wasn't alpha skinning Hanuman. That was composite mesh skinning. Alpha skinning is completely different and yes a few of us have shown it in our images.

shinzaho, I think you missed my point. Which was that all the beta previews have shown us all the things that Pixolator has already demonstrated over the last 6 months.

My question is there anything new that we haven't seen or I guess that anything new is not in the beta. But that doesn't make sense because how can it be beta tested if you don't have it?

Here's a little quicky I put together that shows a couple of new material settings. Please excuse the crappy jpeg compression, cause I don't have access to the image conversion tool I usually use.

It's true, all the major new features have been demonstrated so far, but there are alot of little ones, seems like something new in each panel (some things missing as well). I was asked not to discuss the new interface and how it works, which for me is one of the best improvements because it is more comfortable very customizable and looks great. I've noticed two new brushes, 2 new strokes, and some new features for replaying scripts. There, I hope I haven't violated my agreement by saying too much, and I hope I haven't just made you more frustrated about what's new.

Coolio.

Is there an option to make the skinning more sharp where the objects meet? In case you wanted to have sharper angles.

Reminds me of the icing on Gingersnap cookies. YuuMAY!!!

i regret to have to admit that once again it is me that has to claim culprit-dom for a few major confusions. not only did i introduce a gorey alias for the spraybrush some time ago  but i posted a pic that was done with a procedure called "alpha-skinning" into Slosh’s old tool skinning thread (http://www.pixolator.com/zbc-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=006859) that has a completely different function as topic i didnt even know about yesternite... sorry, amigos! muy unprofessional, i know, but then, i am amateur :D

Zoid is right: the interface is wowzers, and its easy to miss the dozens of add-ons! i think with 1.5 we are entering a new zalaxy :D

Hi Kathy. As Pixolator stated when he first talked about skinning, you can control the amount of blending/smoothing that takes place where meshes join.

Regarding the features that have been shown by the beta testers, we have asked that they not discuss or mention any features that have not yet been announced by Pixolator. There are several very good reasons for this. However, just because a feature isn't mentioned by a beta tester when a picture is posted does not mean that it has not been used. Many of the beta tester images so far have such "Easter eggs" in them.

I really like the material? coloring? on the large one.
Welcome to the world of multimarkers. Making complex polymeshes can be a little frustrating at first when trying to position all the pieces. With a little practice they become an essential tool, allowing you to model things you couldn't ordinarily do so easily. With the new skinning feature, I can think of so many more things to use them with.
Thanks for showing the some of new material properties WingedOne. Just a couple more weeks <sighs>...

Actually it was painted with the Spray brush... ;)

Here's an example of the range of control over the skinning...The original, and then low, medium, and high smoothing...
I will be adding to this thread, and bear with me...I know these are very basic examples. I'm trying to take me out of the equation, and just show the features...Trust this, I will be getting into much more complex imagery with all these great tools...I just want new users, without the Beta, to get an idea of the new capabilities! :D ;)
Oh, also all the objects are default resolution...

Most likely a dweeb question but would you be able to mix the smoothing? Like mask part and for sharper edges like someone earlier asked? Feel free to ignore if unanswerable... or too dumb to warrant an answer ~L~

Hey Deb, that's not a dumb question at all...
I'll check it out, and post the result... :)

(That is, unless one of the local 'wise guys' beats me to it... :p ;) )

thnx SC another fine example of something tha I find new...that last best smoothed one is too fine..even for a simple test image....my little mind is churning now....and to answer something that was said by another user....I will say that just because something is shown doesnt always make it click within some of our brains...so repetitive viewing of examples using the same techniques or tools or whatever is helpful in the fact that eventually it will sink in...for some of us like myself, Z is basically the only program that I have delved so much into with time and production...so all images displaying the new features are welcomed in my book...thnx again SC and others for posting the results of your experiments and testing. :tu: :tu: :tu: :tu: :tu: :tu:
I anxiously await 1.5 like everyone else...

Yes I think the question I would ask too, is can you be selective with skinning. It would otherwise mean you would loose detail where perhaps you don't want to. Thanks for the demo.
