Okay... I have a question about something that's been bothering me for a while.

Is there a way to use a multimarker and have one of the tools that make up the marker retain a mask that has been applied?

Ex.
Draw a cube... apply mask all & mark it.
Draw a sphere... mark it.
Clear Canvas.
Apply / draw Multi-marker.

I've been unable to pick a combination of marker options that allow me to retain the original mask. Is there a way?

Thanks in advance.

Why would you want to do this? Wouldn't you be making a new object anyway with the polymesh tool? And then it seems you could mask that...

I'm a little puzzled, and would like a little information on the purpose of the operation you want to perform...

The long and short of it is that this would allow you to model an object around another object.

Say I want to put a ring around a cylinder... but I don't want it to be a "regular" ring... ultimately I would like to be able to modify the one object while leaving the other part of the object unchanged.

Okay FG...Why wouldn't you modify the ring first, and then make your MM object? I'm sorry if I sound dense on this but I really can't see why you would do it this way...

You may be onto something, and I'm just not 'getting' it, so maybe you could post a little example?

EZ... thank you very much... I haven't digested all of what your ZScript does yet... but I know that is on the right track.

Stonecutter... at first I was confused by your questions (and it was late here)... but I must have been confused as I was posting my original question also. I'll just say I must have had a smooth spot on my brain. My basic error was that I was thinking you could edit a multi-marker object and you can't (I don't believe)... you can only move, rotate, or scale the object as a whole (you can't perform those operations on the specific tool). I was looking to mask one of the tools in a multi-marker object so that you could edit it without effecting the other. The main reason for this would be so that you could rotate both pieces together.

This might still be poorly phrased... if so, I apologize.

Hey you confused the hell outa me F/G! :D ;)
But whatever is in the back of your mind, don't let go too quickly...Just because you can't express it clearly to me doesn't mean that your not onto something...Maybe your brain has picked up on something that will be a real good one for us all, so stay with it! :tu: :) :D

I know you got me thinking, and that's a good thing, as 'Martha' would say! ;)

Don't worry... I haven't given up, there's just so much to play with in 1.5 that I might not get back to it for a few days.
